Shinigami Information
The Shinigami maintain their stronghold in the heart of the Soul Society in a massive fortress known as the Seiretei. It is surrounded by a massive wall with four main entrances, each a ten days walk apart from the others. Within the Seiretei exist the Gotei 6, the 6 divisions that the Shinigami outside of the Academy are placed into. Each of the divisions have very specific purposes and duties both within the Seiretei, the Rukongai and the physical world.

The Seireitei is not merely the home of the Shinigami and the Gotei 6, but also of the various noble houses. These houses represent the most well off and influential families in all of the Soul Society, and the absolute political authority of the Soul Society stems from the greatest of these houses.

Hierarchy
The Shinigami consist of six divisions. Each division has distinct responsibilities and roles for its members. Members are also loosely rated from top to bottom on the most capable. The top of the division is known as the Captain, the second is the Lieutenant. From third to tenth they are known as Seated members, and may have specific titles and duties according to the division. Everyone else within the division is known as an Unseated Shinigami. The Captain of the first division is known as the Captain Commander, and leads the the Gotei 6.

Power
The Shinigami's evolution typically follows this path. They begin at the tail end of their time in the Academy and can then apply for their "Shikai" after reaching graduation, joining a division and beginning their duties as a Shinigami. Upon attaining the Shikai, a Shinigami will often become a Seated. From there, after much dedication and training they might be able to attain their legendary Bankai, a power unique to every Shinigami and often also gaining the power to claim a Lieutenancy and perhaps, if bold enough, a Captaincy.

Skills
Zanpakuto Resonance - The measure of a Shinigami's connection with the Zanpakuto. Both a measure of their relationship in and abstract way and the Shinigami's mastery over the power of their Shikai and eventually Bankai.
Zanjutsu - This represents the Shinigami's ability in martial combat with their Zanpakuto.
Kido - The "Demon Arts" are the Shinigami's mystical art, a form of combat involving advanced spells broken up into Bakudo, or binding spells that create barriers, or hold enemies in place. Hado, or destructive explosive magic and Kaido, the ability to heal. Rare is a Shinigami fluent in all three, many specialize in one area, or two at most.
Hoho - The art of moving quickly, represented by the signature Shinigami 'Flash Step'. Shinigami who specialize in Hoho have the ability to move incredible distances with incredible speed.
Custom Skill - A custom skill that can be determined by the chooser.

3rd Division - The Kidō Corps
Overview
The Third Division is also known as The Kidō Corps, the branch of the Gotei’s Military which specialises in the use of the Demon Arts. Tasked with duties ranging from the important task of running the Kaidō Hospital, battlefield combat support in the form of Hadō & Bakudō, overseeing Rukongai Relief and Defense and the essential operation of the Senkaimon. The Third Division is also expected to progress the continued advancement of Kidō, this ranges from researching and developing the theories and application of the Demon Arts to maintaining the high standard of the Kidō education at the Shin'ō Academy.

Third Seat - Chief Archivist - Vacated
The Chief Archivist holds the important responsibility of looking after the Gotei’s Grand Library which contains texts on all known Kidō Lore. Their authority is only second to the Division Captain’s in granting access to the Library. The Third Seat also has access to the Restricted and Forbidden Sections of these Demon Arts Archives and it is an unspoken expectation that they will study these spells despite their illegality. They also supervise the ongoing research and advancement of Kidō throughout the Gotei. The Third Seat also holds the secondary responsibility of overseeing the Kido Instruction at the Shin'ō Academy and working with the First Division to help maintain this.

The Third Seat is expected to be a Master of Hadō, Bakudō or both.

Fourth Seat - Advanced Relief Team Leader - Unfilled
The Fourth Seat commands the 10 Relief Teams of the Third Division. These are the emergency teams tasked with providing high priority medical support for the Gotei 6. These Kaidō specialists have the responsibility of providing healing support both within the Hospitals of the Third Division but also the dangerous duty to provide battlefield support to Shinigami injured in the line of duty who can not safely be transported back to the Seireitei.

The Fourth Seat is expected to be a Master of Kaidō.

Fifth Seat - Rukongai Response Commander - Reika Suzumei
The most combat focused role within the Third Division’s Seated Roles is that of the Rukongai Response Commander. The Fifth Seat is tasked with leading the Response Teams for the various tasks required in the Rukongai. These range from the relatively safe providing relief support to the poorer districts and the running of the various small Seireitei funded schools. However the Fifth Seat is also responsible for leading the rapid response combat teams to counter Hollow Invasions beyond the Seiretei’s Walls.

The Fifth Seat is in the unusual position of not requiring any expertise in Kidō but is expected to be an expert combatant.

Sixth Seat - Senkaimon Head Coordinator - Unfilled
Perhaps the least prestigious but most important job in the Seireitei is the maintenance and monitoring of the Senkaimon used by the Gotei to transverse between the Soul Society and the Living World. Their duties include regulating access to the Senkaimon, overseeing the Division Members who open and close the portal, applying the Seals to Lieutenant and Captain Level Shinigami who enter the Human World as well as the important duty of overseeing the teams that care for the Jigokuchō.

The Sixth Seat requires no special skill set except an expert understanding of how Binding Spells and Seals function.


Seventh Seats - Leaders of the Rukongai Response Teams - Various (Listed Below)
The Seventh Seats make up the various Leaders of the Rukongai Response Teams. These Teams fall under the command of the Fifth Seat and have responsibilities ranging from providing humanitarian aid or teaching at the Division funded schools to rapid response defense squads to deal with Hollow incursions in the Rukongai.
