Meili - Shikai Request
Threads:
Noble Meet Up (Finished)
Enter the Dragon II (Ongoing)
To the Smallest Captors Goes the King (Dead Thread)
Up for the Challenge (Ongoing)
Release Description: Raimei is an electric-type Zanpakuto that has the power of both the lightning and the thunder of a storm. The gauntlets on Meili's arms are the new form that the Zanpakuto takes.
Release Ability: Raimei's main ability is rather simple and is two-fold. One fist is negatively charged, while the other is positively charged. She is able to shoot out electrical energy from either fist, or hold the electrical energy in her fists and use them in her punches
The Story:
Meili Yan Baozhai, while hosting her yearly party for the other Noble families, had a run in with Watari Suzumei, Memnoch Shimazu, Helena Akimoto, and Yuki Kameko. During this run in, Watari offered Meili the chance to claim her birthright, the Noble Head position of the Baozhai. Meili took him up on this offer and then watched as Watari and Yuki had a small fight, followed by the rest of the nobles present, excluding the previously mentioned named, dropping dead from a mysterious poison. Watari then offered to help train Meili in the art of swordplay. She took him up on this offer. Her Zanpakuto Spirit, whom she already had a close bond with, was against the idea of teaming up with Watari.
Meili met up a few days later in the World of the Living with Watari and Yuki, Yuki there as a surprise guest to the training. The training didn't go exactly as planned, and Meili decided the best way for her to learn was in actual combat, so she challenged Watari to a duel. Watari was originally hesitant, but after some poking and prodding, Meili was able to get him to fight her, with Yuki acting as the referee should things get out of hand. Her Zanpakuto spirit is hesitant for the fight, as they recognize the power difference between the two combatants, however they are willing to listen to their charge and hope for the best. As the fight progressed, Watari got more and more aggressive, leaving Meili and her Spirit to wonder if this was truly the right choice.
A couple of days after that, Meili was granted special permission by the Academy to shadow one Yuki Kameko on a scouting mission in the World of the Living. The mission didn't exactly go as planned, and they found a stray Hollow in a pet shop of all things. The Hollow was adorable to both Meili and Yuki, so they decided to try to capture it and bring it back. They were partially successful before getting distracted and allowing the Hollow to escape from under them. Her Zanpakuto spirit then berated her not only for letting a Hollow escape, but for trying to capture the Hollow and bring it back.
Now, after a day long mission from the Academy, Meili stands lost in the World of the Living and is being escorted to her rendezvous point by a human. What lies in store for Meili now? Only time can tell.

Re: Meili - Shikai Request
Meili, heir apparent to now great Baohai house, let's see if she's ready to step into that larger world.
I'll start here by saying that two ongoing threads and a dead thread could be a pretty sizable issue. However, Enter the Dragon II is meant to be the moment so it makes senses it's not finished, To The Smallest was wrapped up and Up For The Challenge is a pretty small thread in the grand scheme, and in fact I'm probably going to exclude it from my consideration Release Request as it's a pretty small piece.
PASS - Writing - A fourteen-year-old preteen kung fu master seems like a pretty difficult thing to write earnestly but maybe that's just my perspective. You do a good job with it, I have no complaints here. Any mechanical recommendation I'd have would be to try to work your dialogue into your non-dialogue paragraphs sometimes. It can help improve the flow and not make the dialogue so stark.
PASS - Release - Simple, straight forward. I think the relationship with the spirit could use a bit of depth to it, so consider what you're going to develop it towards but that's a concern for Second Release, not first.
PASS - Moment - Straight forward, I think this could do with a bit more building for a Second Release in the other threads but it's perfectly serviceable for as first.
PASS - Impact - No issues here at all, the meeting was initiated by you, you thread with lotsa people, throw yourself into group and site changing stuff. Keep it up!
Congratulations, Meili, from me and the rest of staff, you are approved for First Release!!!
