Something from the Otherside... [Arc Event] - Page 2 Empty Re: Something from the Otherside... [Arc Event]

Yuki doesn't need to, for Sabitsura Rei had her back. His distance between himself and the hollow before him had closened, but her actions threatened his efforts with a Cero. This was precisely what he had feared. A stream of red death comes screaming towards the Sixth squad unseated in guise of an arrow.

Amusing, he thought, a bow person in such a short distance. His reiatsu pulsated briefly in preparation of his countermeasure, a sharp intake of breath does his word escape from his mouth.

"Bakudo #39, Enkosen," he spoke cooly, even while he made his rushing advance towards the hollow. A circular yellow field began to swirl, rotating swiftly before him like a Vinyl in motion. He was close, nothing shall impede him any further.

The cero clashed against his circular field, flexed and cracked, but it was still holding. His casting hand retreated to his sword, firmly touching the grip with a moment thought,

"Just this once… this hollow is condemned for punishment she did not commit!"

The field's crack worsened, the red streak's force began to overwhelm and without his hand to guide, it shattered. Rei took a sharp step aside, cero singing his black sleeve of his uniform, his right hand twisted his sword around, his left thumb pushed the blade forward to expose the glimmering metal. With a pull of his right, the sword sings, from the sheath to the air it crescendos, to air to flesh, it drives into a breathless aria. Two swings it took, a clean vertical cut to part the bow forearm from the rest of her arm and a downward slash, assisted with his left hand firmly gripping the curved sword down towards the guilty's mask.

This Inhuman Beast, it outta be locked up, and never released...
The hollow finally dissipated from the outright aggression from the werewolf as Vance realized he was probably on the verge of overstaying his welcome. He began typing in the overload command for the cameras on his computer so they couldn't be taken apart. Plus, he was pretty sure that people in other dimensions weren't as smart as him. He needed to get scares if bad things were going to happen. He had a ton of data from the wolf-girl that he was going to use, mostly for potential experiments with genetic reishi-manipulation. If shinigami could do it, he could too.

In the Case of Rei
Rei's blade met home, easily, much easier than he would have thought, twice as the hollow fell down and dissipated. Then, something near him exploded as Vance's program destroyed all the cameras. The hollow he had been fighting, was looking at him from behind a car further down the street. Though, he had just killed it he thought? The hollow turned away, before Rei noticed, the arm with the bow, was on the other arm as the hollow snapped a finger and disappeared into a black hallway. He had surely killed a hollow, though. He had more pressing matters, with Yuki injured, and the main hollow group beginning to leave Earth. They had obviously gotten what they had come for, and now it was likely that everyone had lost.

The damage was done, and the hollow had succeeded, and so had Vance. Who was now walking out of the cafe with a grin on his face, strolling along without a care in the world. The questions remained, what had the hollow been after, and what was the crazed crafter going to do with all this newfound information. Vance himself reasoned that he needed to learn more about the hollow, and the shinigami that seemed to be so powerful that nothing dared oppose it. That was quite interesting to him. Quite intriguing.

~Vance is out, but anyone is still free to post if they wish, I shall keep dming if they do so.

Watari would watch the Hollow leave and the frenzy begin to die down and wonder, that was it? There was no big Hollow, no big nothing and instead he was left with a sense of emptiness. As if he’d been caught with his pants down expecting something that never arrived. Watari observed multiple crow-like Hollow clustering in a swarm but they seemed to be too occupied right now to bother anybody. Maybe that was it?

But, there were already Shinigami dealing with that particular mass of Hollow, so he let it be.

Watari flash stepped into the middle of Yuki and the other Shinigami who apparently was from his squad.

“Eh, Yuki, why must you always get yourself into these messes?”

He’d let her have her fun, but he couldn’t let a piece fall off the gameboard just yet. Least of all Yuki Kameko who he had deeply vested interest in making sure stayed alive. Watari would appear beside her and place his hands near her wounds, he knew at least rudimentary kaido that would stop the bleeding.

“Ye Olde Fathers of Flesh and Blood, I deliver thee a contract with Jorōgumo, burn it once, twice, three times and the writ is sealed” Yuki would tingle for a moment but her blood would rapidly clot around her injuries and numb the wounds until she could seek actual medical help. He would then gesture with his hand and a Hell Butterfly would emerge, calling a Senkaimon out in front of them.

“Sabitsura Rei isn’t it?” he nodded in the direction of the other Shinigami “I remember you, I’ve seen your face on the squad lists. Are we clear?”

Of course Watari knew the answer, but Yuki needed medical help sooner rather than later and if she thought they were clear she was more likely to disengage.

"You may think of me as a villain…" Sabitsura's cut rings true, he noticed just how empty it felt when the cut sliced through the Hollow's arm, rejecting further advances from the Hollowed womanly bowman. He was certain he had slain this hollow, and the background noise briefly erupted. A machine exploded from the corner of his eye, causing him to be jolted, his stance shifted to prepare for the oncoming action from the direction of the destruction. Something odious was afoot.

But nothing came. He calmed down.

With a flick of his wrist, he began to sheathe his sword, and exhaled. Whatever the fleeting chaos from the other side was, it was brief and long gone. Straight face was made as he bowed at his recently departed foe.

"but do you think torment is cruel for you?"

It was a moment when he remembered Yuki and her plight and began to back her up. Darting through the alley way and into the main street where she made her duel. To think that he would be helping the fifth squad, a beastly girl with cruel addiction to violence. Of course, more fools him when she, too, had dispatched her hollow and another black robed Shinigami was there, his comrade, a Nobleman Watari.

"You are correct, Watari, and yes. We should be clear, I could not sense any more threats," he affirmed, he took a brief glance at Yuki wounds and Watari administered kaido onto her. He continued, "at least I cannot sense anything in the vicinity of the area. I will continue to assist and dispatch these hollows." He kept a straight face, but deep down, he couldn't help but worry for Yuki.

// FADE FROM: A Helping Hand

The Flock spread across the city like a tsunami. Only wisps of the sparkling scent that started this chaos were left in the park when the Flock arrived. Even as the Flock circled the pasture of green in the oasis of concrete and steel, they knew they were too late to feast on the delicacy. Chaos reigned across the city, the sharp eyes of crows above the rooftops spied billowing spires of smoke and soot. The torrents of intangible energy were being worked into a storm by other souls, obstinate and otherwise fought one another, forcing their way against the ebb and flow of it all.

Despite the attempts made by the Flock to feed itself on finer meals, hunger still ate away at them. The fodder of the city was becoming less and less satiating, yet with each soul the Flock grew. Gluttony ate away at the edges of the mass of birds, their mind frayed as pieces left to chase blind hunger. More and more birds weren’t returning. The Flock could see them scattered like a mess across the city, dotted through streets and alleyways. They feasted on shinigami, quincy, and human alike.

Yet, why were they still so hungry?

It felt like a cruel joke. This oversaturated city was beginning to boil over. Alien radiance bloomed across the focal point of spiritual resonance. The mutiny within the Flock to the hunger didn’t seem inevitable anymore, it seemed a constant of existence. There was no pleasing the maw of madness that drove the beast within to feast and feast and feast. They arrived at the dreaded focal point of the sparkling spiritual energy to no resolution but more hunger. Ironically, hunger was the only solace left to the Flock.

Even as they circled the park and ate away at the helpless throughout the city, they toyed with the texture inside of themselves. Like a child picking at a scab, they flicked at the beast inside. The void was becoming something more and the Flock’s wish was to see the evolution to its natural end. The blossoming complexity was even more tantalizing to the Flock’s rational consciousness than the hunger. It was a way out of this never ending pit of debt. If it meant they had to feast on the entire oversaturated city, then so be it. Many crows still lingered across the city, but the Flock’s focus was wholly on the park below where a familiar taste flew towards them...

It took a few whacks but, eventually, she managed to crack the large Hollow's mask. Her heartbeat pounded within her ears, drowned out all other sounds. Where had the other ones gone? She could still fight! After all she was still standing, wasn't she!?

The Shinigami tried to lift her arms. Pain shot up her limbs, body trembled. She nearly fell to her knees but instead managed to simply double over. Noises returned to her. Someone approached.

Watari.

A deep breath was pulled inwards as she straightened herself out. Turning towards the man she did her best to keep herself composed, but without the adrenaline she was really starting to feel the pain. In fact she might have looked a little pale at the moment. It hadn't been a pretty wound.

"It's my job" muttered the wolf. She felt a tingle within her arms as the Shinigami chanted a kido. The bleeding stopped. The pain disappeared. The wounds were ready for some proper treatment. She tried to move her arms but found them considerably weaker. Fighting like this was going to be an issue.

Another approached. Yuki turned towards the sixer. "Ah. You. The sixer. We still need to conclude our fight" she reminded him, only to then focus on the birds fluttering in the distance. It was a little strange, wasn't it?

// FADE FROM: The Murder Trial

It was strange. As quickly as the Flock fled to the park, it began to emanate an energy outward that called to all the hollow who could hear.

The tsunami spread across the city; it rose and crashed towards the park that started all of this chaos. Billowing spires of smoke and soot still dotted the city even as the torrents and storms started to die off. But this wasn’t the end. Black feathers melted into each other. Birds arrived at the park first, crows from the original Flock and other predatory avians pulled by the hungry energy. They stopped what they were doing, rose and dashed towards the call resonating from the center of the Flock.

Despite the attempts made by the Flock to control and contain the complexity, the hunger within burst forth and drew the hollow across the city to them. Any onlooker would see a mound of black bubbling sludge growing as more and more hollow sacrificed themselves to reach for the unknown energy within. Gluttony ate away at the masses of hollow in the city, their weak minds frayed and focused on chasing the blind hunger. Again and again, the multitudes of souls gave themselves over to the growing mound of black ooze.

Trees were consumed, grass, humans, and cars, all lost to the growing evolution. It felt like a cruel joke. The consciousness within the Flock was so fleeting, it worked and worked and worked to feed the hunger and grow the complexity to be stricken down and lost in the sea of endless souls that was conjoining in the park. There truly was no pleasing the maw of madness that drove the beast within to feast and feast and feast. As the last sparks of intelligence faded into the dark void, the Flock couldn’t help but seek out some sort of safety.

// FADE TO: World End Heaven

// MEANWHILE IN THIS THREAD:

As their consciousness fled to an unknown part of the city, the Flock let hunger overwhelm them. The black mound grew larger and larger until it started to stir. From within, a body formed and rose. A great beast made of the multitudes of hollow grasped for uniformity. Millions upon millions of souls grappled within the beast for control, but nothing was more powerful than the hungry void that drove it to this point.

Their black skin was like a sleek robe that absorbed the light around them. The beast rose and rose, as high as a skyscraper. Out from what seemed like a hood, a white porcelain mask in the shape of a face and a beak formed. Red, evil eyes gazed across the ripe hunting ground. They could see the food still left in the city. They could feel their hunger growl within and they followed suit. Leaning back, the massive beast opened its beak and let out a roar that shattered windows and burst ear drums.

The Flock:

They stepped across the park in one fluid motion, moving towards the nearest source of food. If nothing stopped them, they would consume all of Karakura Town and then all of Japan and then all of the World.

Something from the Otherside... [Arc Event] - Page 2 Empty Re: Something from the Otherside... [Arc Event]

Birds . . . no Crows, so many. A flock of them, pouring and intertwining, but these weren’t regular avians they all held the reiatsu of a Hollow, all had that pitch black hole in their chests and all seething, Their malice knew no simple confines, their hunger knew no simple limits these birds had grown into something beyond and as the swirling mass began to gather on the streets of Karakura it all clicked into Watari’s brain.

Ah, so this is what the Hollow sensed, the longing for the convening of Hollow. The longing of a hunger that hovered over the area like some dark shadow. The unforeseen will of a forming Gillian class menos. The beast was rising. A shadow of a beast with a gleaming white mask, reiatsu vastly dwarfing any meek Hollow that Watari had faced before. This simply wasn’t a Gillian Menos, this was something beyond even that, it was unique an individual. This Menos was Gillian but it was also distinctive. An untapped font of power.

“Looks like you were wrong” Watari clucked under his breath, Yuki was in a bad state but even Watari knew that she was nigh suicidal. She simply couldn’t resist a fight like this, a Gillian Menos? The sheer prestige of driving that thing down would drive Yuki further and further into a battle fervor - a battle fervor which would surely consume her.

“Well, unlike you, I’m trying to get better, so I guess I should help
” Watari sighed, they couldn’t dispatch Gillian with Yuki wounded and Watari himself wasn’t very much interested in fighting this fight anyway. He had no doubt that Yuki and the Sixth Division Shinigami could probably handle it, somebody needed to call reinforcements if this all went south anyway.

“Ya get one shot Kameko-chan” Watari mused as he pulled back his sleeve revealing long white scars that he’d sustained at her hands running up his arms. A few Shinigami had queried why Watari let himself keep scars, they held memories, memories of conflict passed and lessons learnt.

There were some Kido however, kido that revolved around healing that could make use of such injuries. Kido that weren’t highly spoken of because they were tied into the healing arts and broke traditional healing convention.

“Jorōgumo, accursed seductress. Tear from me my fingernails one by one”
Watari’s arm would glow a bright red as he held it towards Yuki, the scars on his arm began to unstitch themselves as if an invisible thread worked in reverse causing blood to run down his arms from each of the scars.

“Hedonistic Yokai, a contract written and burnt to ash. I atone for the writ. My blood be thy seal”

Yuki’s wounds would slowly begin to knit together as the wounds she sustained would heal, not completely but enough for her to regain atleast’s ninety percent of her usual strength. Watari would do more for her, but most likely if the strength he’d use to heal her was any more, his own arm would’ve exploded in blood.

“Kaido ???: Broken Contract with the Weaver of Skin”

With that Watari would step away letting the droplets of blood run from his arm and fall down towards the streets of Karakura below.

“Have fun Kameko-chan, you have until the troops come”

Then Watari left through the glowing senkaimon.

Of course she would still want to fight him. Rei let out a draining sigh, was it really the time to fight him now? "At your best, Fifth. At your best…" He refrained from how he really felt, he didn't want to fight her, nor any shinigami. The fact alone that Yuki was demanding for him to draw his sword was unsettling enough for me to stay away from the want of violence.

"I think we should take Yuki back to…." his concerned tone was abruptly halted with a blood curling roar piercing enough to recoil. Rei's ears were instinctively covered with his hands. Shock surged through his body as the scene revealed a towering black monstrosity bellowing with such intensity it became difficult for him to breathe. He looked over to his fellow comrades and already Watari had made his preparation on Yuki, something untelling and mysterious. Kaido had always been a mystery for him and chose not to press on what he's doing, he glanced over to the towering Gillian and lo and behold, in all its terrible presence, the white mask of death roared its first.

Rocked to the core, Rei's hands quaked in fear. This was the first time he had seen a Menos Gillian before - to think of it, had anyone seen one this past century?

"Watari…" he paused. He witnessed Watari escaping into the Senkaimon, supposingly seeking for reinforcements. Not much he can argue, but he continued, "Yuki, if we have any chance, we'd need to work together!"

The sixer had a point. There wasn't any good reason to fight him right now. As much as she hated to admit it right now she couldn't give him a very exciting fight. Not without more healing. That wouldn't be very fair to him, would it? In fact he wanted them to return! Or, at least, he was about to suggest it when something else decided to chime in.

Birds. Many, many, many birds. Or rather, it was a mass of birds. They had formed together, consumed one another, and then they had consumed everything within their vicinity. No. Not they. It.

A screeching shockwave pulsed outward from the new Hollow. Yuki's ears flattened forward against her head, knees buckling and teeth gritted as the painful noise rattled her. Glass around them erupted within vehicles and windows. For a few moments everything was muted by a shrill ringing noise.

She had missed some of what Watari said to her. Reading lips was not her forte. Her hand attempted to lift up to rub at one of her ears, however the pain stopped her. She had forgotten about her injuries. Thankfully Watari had not.

The man pulled back his sleeve, revealing a familiar scar. As her ears finally stood back up she tilted her head, somewhat confused by what he was doing. Then he started to speak. The scar ripped open, spilling crimson upon the ground. It took Yuki by surprise, eye widening with a hint of worry. "What are you-?" she started, only to be interrupted by an intense pain!

Her gaze shot down towards her arms. The wounds were stitching themselves closed! A low growl emerged from the wolf, body shaking until the spell was finished. It had been quite painful, as though someone had repeatedly plucked away her flesh and threaded it together, but her arms were responsive now. Hands curled into fists, arms lifted slowly to test her mobility.

"Thank you" Yuki mumbled, turning her gaze briefly towards the other shinigami. One arm wiped away the sweat at her brow. "Agreed" she replied, readying her blade in her right hand. He was right. They needed to hold this thing at bay until the reinforcements arrived.

"I'll keep it distracted. Try to land some hits. Cover my back."

Could she entrust that to him? Probably. He was a skilled fighter, after all. She was pretty tough as far as Shinigami went. It was probably safer if she kept its attention on herself.

Yuki pushed her body forward into a sprint. This Gillian was a creature she had heard of before, something she remembered from her studies. However this was her first time actually seeing one in person. It was certainly more impressive to see up close.

I wanted this.

As she neared the Hollow her blade was swung out to her right in passing, aiming to cleave at the monster's base. "Down here!" she called out, continuing past her foe with the hopes that she might draw its gaze away from the sixer's approach! Unfortunately her swing was not as quick or as powerful as it normally might be. But as much as it pained her to say right now her job wasn't to defeat it.

Something from the Otherside... [Arc Event] - Page 2 Empty Re: Something from the Otherside... [Arc Event]

Post by La Fuerza of the Flock Mon Jul 20, 2020 11:20 am

Every single soul within the multitude was like a rebellious cell. Instead of working in tandem to create complexity, they rioted and raged against each other. All of the multitudes hungered for what the creature held. And the city itself was still awash with food that they all could taste together in the cloaked beast they had become. Each step was a contest of wills upon wills within the chaotic void. Their slow pace was not on account of their size, but their inability to agree on where to go.

The hunger’s decision was made for them when an obstinate force cut through the park at dangerous speeds and used their claw to slice through their cloak and leg. The taste of shinigami was enough for the mindless mob and they moved to follow the wolf-girl with their gaze. At the prospect of a meal, something boiled up from within them. Pure instinct lashed out and red plasma pooled in the beast’s gaping beak. Energy built from the madding hunger they felt, as they turned and faced the running shinigami.

There was no control within the monster. It was only hunger and unleashed a chaotic cascade of caustic energy that lanced across the park as a pure red beam of spiritual fire. The beam trailed with the gaze of the creature. It swept up the path of the shinigami and beyond. The bulk of the blast flew across the park to slam into a squat doughnut-shaped building with the words “Karakura Baseball Stadium” written in Japanese on a now-burning billboard. Concrete and rubble exploded out from the side of the building. A path of upturned earth and rock marked the route of the unholy ray and the last bit of green in the park caught fire.

They all looked across the desecrated grounds towards where they saw the shinigami last. Their sharp eyes glanced across the field of fire, looking through soot and ash for a charred meal for the Flock. They stepped forward, and despite the multitudes within them, their focus was singular. Hunger was God within the beast. And they would seek to satiate their malicious deity no matter the cost.

Something from the Otherside... [Arc Event] - Page 2 Empty Re: Something from the Otherside... [Arc Event]

Post by Sabitsura Rei Tue Jul 21, 2020 1:04 pm

For once, he was surprised at Yuki's reasonable response. He was worried that he might be left on the lurch as she began to dart off into the greenfields chasing after the ball flung across. "I'll try and create a big explosion!" He bellowed, trying to over the infestation of hollows converging into one singular mass. The surging roar, the pulsating shockwave causing him to be unsteady with his feet. The immense pressure from the pillar of murders weighs heavy on his chest, and at the end of inhalation of air, Yuki's already gone.

"Fuck!" he uttered solely to self. He didn't know what to do, his mind was blank and the filthy air irritated his movement. As Yuki moved down, The Bobcut Shinigami paced upwards, leaping towards the taller building. Think, Sabitsura Rei, Think! He kicked his feet off the platform exposed by shattered windows to elevate him to higher heights. By the time he reached the roof of the towering office building, he still found himself - despite the tall building - still a distance away from Gillian's face.

It was when he began to tear the sleeves of his uniform when he decided what needed to be done. If explosion is what he's going to provide, then Rei, shall deliver in spades, his palms clashing together with a sharp clap, his toned muscles flex, his hot air fills the air before him and begins to mutter.

Memorise these lines, recite them when he is prepared. It was all or nothing. Failure could mean absolute annihilation to Karakura Town.

Something from the Otherside... [Arc Event] - Page 2 Empty Re: Something from the Otherside... [Arc Event]

A hit! Of course missing such a massive creature would have been pretty pathetic. Unfortunately her attack barely had any effect. A torn cloak and a light wound to the beast's leg.

This isn't going to cut it.

While the damage was certainly very limited Yuki did, at the very least, accomplish her goal. The Hollow was focused upon her. Perhaps she could lure it somewhere less populated. She continued to dash away. That is when she heard it. The sound of energy building, of air rushing inwards. Her fur stood up on end.

Shadows twisted, darted about as a bright red light streaked across the ground. She seemed to move in slow motion as it zipped past her, followed immediately by an explosion of energy. The concussive blast sent her through a storefront's window, smoke billowing from her left side. For a moment everything went black.

Ringing woke her from her brief bout of unconsciousness. Constant, painful ringing, although not as painful as her other wounds. Burns ran up her left side, covered her left arm. Bones were fractured. Blood trickled down her face, but thankfully that side had already been blinded. For a moment her tail was partially lit aflame, although a few quick smacks against the ground put it out. A few errant shards of glass stuck out of her left side.

Nevermind then.

She was slow to get up, coughing up blood as she went. Yuki leaned against a wall for a few moments. One by one the shards were plucked out, each drawing a hissed growl from the wolf. But she couldn't stop to rest here. Not after what the Gillian did.

A lesser Shinigami might have taken this moment to hide. To flee. Utilize hit and run tactics. But Yuki knew better. One reckless blast had demolished a chunk of the city. She needed to focus its attacks. Limit the damage.

Stepping out from wreckage Yuki settled her zanpakuto over her shoulder. Wisps of black energy slipped free from her form. They swirled, slowly at first, but gradually their speed increased. In a matter of seconds her reiatsu was unleashed, allowed to rage around her freely. But it wasn't a show of force. It was a lure.

"Hey! You missed!" called out the wolf. A brief glance was cast aside towards the blazing path of destruction. The grip on her blade tightened, teeth gritted.

With a burst of energy she was off, bouncing from one building to another. She moved in tight circles around her massive foe, hoping to limit the area targetted by its attacks. Her blade swung out repeatedly, not only to land quick strikes but to assist with deflecting counter attacks, to glance away more streaks of red as they were sent her way. A few near misses sent her crashing into one building after another, scattered her across rooftops, but she never allowed herself to remain down for very long.

Keep moving.

Minutes passed while she held the attention of the Flock. The immense power of each attack directed her way inflicted another injury, despite most missing her. Explosions dealt her internal wounds, impacted her bones with concussive strikes, tossed her about like a doll, but despite everything she kept standing, kept attacking, and kept her reiatsu flowing outwards like a beacon.

Just a little longer. Just a little more.

It had taken its time and it had taken its toll upon her body, but Yuki had finally managed to maneuver atop a building tall enough. She was within range of the creature's beak-like mask! But she knew her blade wouldn't cut through. Not if the attacks against its legs had been any indication. No, she had another plan, something which, she hoped, would stun it long enough for the sixer to land his hit.

She stood atop the roof, body trembling in pain, shaking from blood loss, waiting for the right moment. A tiny red blip appeared. The orb was forming again within the Hollow's maw. Yuki took off into a charge, kicked off the edge of the building with another burst of energy, and dove straight in towards the Hollow's face!

"Don't you let me down!" she howled as swirling black winds constricted inwards and sheathed her zanpakuto with a torrent wild energy. With the remaining force that she could muster Yuki slammed her weapon into the rapidly expanding ball of barely contained destruction. The resulting explosion briefly cast a red hue across the sky as a cloud of black smoke erupted outwards. A smaller black streak scattered outwards from the cloud as Yuki was propelled across the sky.

Up to you now sixer.

The landing was going to be painful, and it was going to mess her up, but she wouldn't need to worry about that. Before she even managed to hit the ground Yuki was rendered unconscious.

Something from the Otherside... [Arc Event] - Page 2 Empty Re: Something from the Otherside... [Arc Event]

The smell of charred earth filled their senses and they heard the shinigami before they tasted them. Through the soot and ash, they spied the half-charred wolf-girl howling with defiance at the mountain of multitudes. They all stepped forward in unison as a wave of spiritual obstinance blossomed outward from the small shinigami. It was only there for a moment before the wolf-girl became like the wind.

Only the sharp eyes of the Flock were able to track the shinigami rooftop to rooftop. Around and around they went, striking at the lumbering mound of festering souls. In retaliation, the Flock assembled their own resonating energy into more streaks of chaotic light. Each streak of red anger that came out of the cursed beak-mouth was more and more refined. The craving multitudes honed their desire, and together they kept lancing blows at the tiny target. Obstinance wasn’t only in their spirit, but it was embedded in their very soul. This wolf-girl was near cinder and ash, a mangled mess of bloody wounds, yet they stood defiant like a ship in a storm.

The Flock cared not. Their mindless hunger drove them on and on and on and on. There was no thought for anything more than the expulsion of more caustic plasma puke across the desolated park. Buildings turned to rubble. Those who weren’t wise enough to evacuate the area were soon released of their mortal coil. Souls wandered the streets and through the rubble as if they were lost in a dream.

And then the shinigami darted up one of the taller buildings still remaining in the area. They looked down from their pedestal and the crazed hungry multitude gazed back. Their wild, red pupils glistened in the sun and, again, without even a thought, they opened their beak to shout. The shinigami, bleeding and burnt, dove with their own war cry, this time aiming for the monster’s open maw.

Instinct is as pure as hunger. It’s automatic. It’s natural. It’s the fundamental nature of living things. To exist in a world of pure intuition is a world free of pain. When instinct roiled up out of the multitude it formed as the red gurgling mass of an explosive burst of energy. The red glow reflected off the white of their mask and they released their instinct at the diving shinigami.

The streak of red light cut through the ebb and flow to slam into the obstinate force. The rage cracked and split as a double flash of red burst up and outward before erupting into a chaotic cacophony of expanding cloud plumes and scattered electric fire. The sky was a lightshow of red spiritual hues, a red, smoldering shinigami comet the main event as it tore across the sky.

The result was self-immolation. The Flock themselves staggered back against the shockwave that followed the lightshow. Red caustic rain fell to the earth and crashed against the mountain. It was with instinct that the rumbling monster stepped back and away from the epicenter of the premature detonation. The obstinate force’s final defiant act was to turn the creature’s furtive skill against them. Black welts formed on the cloak-skin of the great beast and they roared in anguish at the lost meal.

They would find another, but how would they decide on what to eat?

As soon as they recovered, the mob started to argue.

Something from the Otherside... [Arc Event] - Page 2 Empty Re: Something from the Otherside... [Arc Event]

This was not supposed to happen. The training ever taught him to deal with hollows and as though a Gillian were unheard of, he realised how night and day when it comes to training and live fighting. The towering beast across the horizon and Yuki found herself pouring her all into fighting.

The burden of success falls onto him. The question of triumph or fall decided upon his determination. He must survive, but he must keep Yuki alive, he must hold the Towering Gillian in place long enough for reinforcements to arrive; it weighs him ever so much. His arms felt heavy for him to lift, but he harried on.

Palms melded and the wind billowed against him, unsettling his uniform and the sound of conflict - the one woman army was putting her best out and Sabitsura Rei, a Sixth squad member was not going to let her outshine him! He felt his own inner spirit surging and bubbling throughout his body. It had been a while since he had decided to unleash the most out of him.

"Ye lord! Mask of flesh and bone…"

The ground trembles from the reaction of the fight that was unfolding, but slowly he chants, he could see his fifth squad comrade was losing ground.

"Flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of man..!"

It was now or never, Yuki had fallen, he saw her body screaming across the battlefield and it had been long enough for her to not reappear into his vision. It won't be long for the Hollow to notice the upsurging of one's shinigami's Reiastu, but it was of no consequence.

Rei was ready.

"Truth and temperance, upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws!"

The bobcut shinigami bellowed out his words as he poured everything he could condensed into his right palm. He lowered his left, snapping his right outward, his fingers flayed out, his palm pointing in the direction of the monstrous beast.

"Hado #33 Blue Fire, Crash down!"

blue energy discharged upon his command, six dense energy of light snaked and streaked above the streets, block after block of buildings goes by as its contained destruction approaches the pitch black wall of emptiness before finding itself with a brilliant pillar of blue fire. The energy drained from Sixth squad Saibitsura had left him crumpled atop the towering building. The last thing his gaze had witnessed was his fruit of exhaustive labour engulfed the hollow in a blaze of contempt.

Something from the Otherside... [Arc Event] - Page 2 Empty Re: Something from the Otherside... [Arc Event]

He felt his body was moving against his will. The moment the bait was snapped and the horde of hollows filled the scene with false promises of food the Quincy was stirred. Irvine tried to ignore it. It got nothing to do with him, why would he? Don't make trouble, his mother said.

He held a mild anger to himself. Not today. Not this very day. He could've sworn he heard the phone ringing from the direction of his home. No, certainly not. It must be his heartbeat pounding from his chest, his body was sprinting. Reaching towards the world of destruction. Reaching out for anything that could swerve him in the direction of the sudden warzone.

It had been ten years since he lived in Karakura, the people here are good people, willing to go the extra mile to provide and at times expressed concern towards their 'gaijin' stranger. He tried to shy away, waiting for that phone call to arrive. He had often politely declined at first, but sooner or later he had grown to admire their persistence. Their nonchalant attitude in treating one another with a smile on their face: he liked that.

Ten years of happiness, through hardship and suffering. Bliss shone the brightest like one summer noon. The waves of emotion, littered with the armada of tiny little boats that support these little flames. Gently drifting aimlessly, but never alone. Aye. Irvine, too had memories of happiness, but it was faint, a kindle in comparison. He held it close to his chest, shielding it from everything by cupping his hands, like a beggar man and his dog.

A wise man once told him: A little bit of Kindness paves the path to merriment! He couldn't figure it out himself, not with evil and negative wafting all over the place.

"Humans, you know? They're good, but they like to see the evil."

His pace was frantic, but he found himself on the edge of the battlefield, a ruin afar from a hollowed out building and within it, a young girl in black, crumbled against the rubble. His pace slowed. His chest was pounding, but nothing expired from his lips. He gazed at the fallen Shinigami and approached the young woman. Details became clear, hair was long and black, splayed without a bind. There's something different about her aside from being a shinigami, something that he explored by gently rubbing his hand at the back of her wolf like ears.

"You did good, champ," Irvine lightly uttered. He was convinced that she was the one fighting, and another not too far standing idly by. He could feel that standing shinigami's pressure spiking, but he could too, feel the fear from so far away - he won't last long. He gently brushed the stray bangs from her hair like a doting father would. Her forehead exposed and dabbed his finger against the wet blood from her lip and smeared a single line from the center of her forehead.

"You're safe," he uttered softly, "thank you..." he rose onto his feet, a transparent barrier sprouted around her, concealing her from hungry opportunistic eyes of a hollow, but invisible to the eyes of her own kin. He felt bad not helping her any further, but the roar beyond comparison reminded him of the threat.

"But only one kind of people can truly see the good in people"

The explosive force unsettled his movement, but he had managed to leap atop of one of the buildings a short distance ahead of the spent shinigami who mustered enough of his strength to use Kido. He's out and away from the battlefield, the black hooded, middle aged man, a former pro-wrestler and associated with Quincy took his place, the air around him becomes dense, filled with Shinigami taint but it was not given, but produced. He lightly sucked the tip of his blood stained thumb and gazed intensely at the monstrosity. It was a Quincy's Sin that brought it here. It is only right for Quincy to correct the wrongs, even if Irvine Bradford considered himself as a blacksheep.

The stench of shinigami air intensified wafting across the streets , the pressure began to spread and, notably, the gusting wind generated from his own energy had disturbed the surrounding, slowly stripping the colours from his surrounding scenery. He had never tried this before, this technique was once beyond his grasp but maybe just maybe.

"Still clutching onto the faint flame kindling close to his chest. It all I had…"

His raw energy spiked to its peak, he raised his right hand, his fingers branched out exposing his palm. The flow of his movement was swift, his arm snapped and swung, the pace of his arm had the hallmark of throwing a baseball pitch, but the palm clashed against the ground with a gentle pat and as if it was magic, the battlefield had lost its colour. The sea of monochrome town replaced the assorted colours of concrete jungle. Leaving only the man himself, and the towering blot roaring at the distance.

His action was grave but necessary. He ripped the Gillian out from the material plane and now stood in the pocket realm that was slowly crumbling as time traversed. No sounds, no vision, no actions shall be witnessed other than the two that resides within.

The faint fire still flickers behind the wall of his hands, but it's shield only provided nothing but warmth to the now depleted body...

"A villain knows who the heroes are. I know that, because I'm one…"

but a hesistant but stubborn gaze revealed that he's not out of action.
