A Defender's Duty [Open]

Karakura Community Park

The hum of Spiritual Energy rang out in the park as another blue arrow cut through the air and smashed into the Hollow’s Mask, shattering it, as the creature’s form dematerialised. Glancing around he couldn’t see any more Hollow in the area.

Letting his senses spread out across the park and, thankfully, that familiar nauseous feeling that usually accompanied sensing the Spiritual Energy of a Hollow wasn’t present.

Opening his hand he let the glowing blue bow wink out of existence as the black Tomoe Symbol hanging from his wrist stopped glowing while he let the Reishi he’d gathered disperse.

‘My family was right. The Spiritual Activity in this City really has gotten out of hand.’ he thought to himself.

That was the second Hollow this night. When he was a teenager it was a bad week if his family caught a single Hollow throughout an entire week.

‘I’ve only been patrolling for two hours.’ he thought to himself with no little despair. It was little wonder his Father had asked the O’Donovan’s for help.

Other than the Hollow he’d sensed a mortal with unusually high spiritual power but with nothing like any Quincy he’d ever met. Then he was certain he’d seen a black robed, sword-toting, murderer flying across the sky. Luckily he dodged that one.

Stifling a yawn, Genji rubbed his eyes a little, feeling exhausted. It had been a long day but this was his duty - the duty of the Ishikawa. Besides, it had taken him half an hour to convince his father that he was better off resting than going out by himself. Then it took him another 20 minutes to tell Akari that she had to study for her upcoming exam instead - the girl had to prep for upcoming University Entrance Exams.

No he could do it.

He was tired. Jessica was only a year older than Akari but maybe she could lend a hand on these patrols? He’d meant to tell her he was heading out but she was still new to the apprenticeship and he frankly wasn’t sure if she was ready. Not that he doubted her power or strength but it might be a bit abusive to drag out his new apprentice on the job.

Of course Akira was his apprentice as well and he wasn’t letting her come out… but that was different. She was a High School student and had her studies. Jessica had… well nothing going on aside from her parent’s wealth as far as he could tell.

'That’s mean.' he scolded himself.

Checking his phone he fired Jessica a quick text to let her know where he was in case she went looking for him at the Dojo or something.

With another yawn he continued his patrol. He still had another hour or two to go after all.
