Hair Color and Style: Charlie’s hair is similar to an old 80’s greaser hairstyle being a sort of thick wavy quiff with short sides, albeit with fairly little effort put into styling it. He is also poorly shaved with short stubble. His hair, and beard, are dark brown with the roots starting to go grey.
Clothing and Accessories: Tends to wear combat and cargo trousers with rugged boots, often with steel toe caps. He tends to just throw on whatever t-shirt and coat he has at hand although he has a fondness for denim and leather jackets.
Generalized Appearance: Charlie a relatively tall, well built, man in great shape. However his face is lined from a lifetime of stress, sorrow, working hard and just generally living. He rarely hides his emotions and is often easily read whether via his heated glare or an open smile.
Spiritual Pressure Analysis: A light smoky green with a bright white inner core which burns ferociously. A sense of aggression and danger is carried along with his Reiatsu showing his fighting spirit.

Overall Personality: Charlie is a fairly chill middle aged man. He has a live and let live attitude towards much of his mundane life. Being a rather honest man Charlie’s emotions run fast and hot, easy to smile and quick to anger. Although as capable as the next person at lying he just doesn’t bother most of the time. Charlie, never having had much money, isn’t materialistic and is more than capable of living with less.

As laid back as he is, the fighter works hard, trains hard and is extremely disciplined having trained practically every day of his adult life to be as skilled a fighter as possible.

Beneath it all the man has something to prove to himself, to the world, to the Quincy and even to the Shinigami. He believes deeply that Humanity requires no help from these other forces although whether or not he counts the Quincy as a Human tends to depend on the individual’s own attitude.

Privately he also feels very guilty about training his wife as this is what awakened her own power and thus led to her death. As such he's unsure about training others in anything outside of mundane combat. This is also partially the reason why he goes out Hunting Hollow so often as he doesn't want innocent Humans to be killed by the beasts ever again.

2017 - Moves to Karakura Town and opens his own small Dojo.
2019 - Michelle passes away, having been killed by a Hollow.

Overarching History
Born in a poor neighbourhood of Chicago during the early 70’s to a working class family Charlie was one of two kids, having a younger sister, and largely kept his head down to keep out of trouble. At a young age his father put him into a small class run in a back alley gym by a friend which taught traditional Okinawan karate. Charlie would find this training give his life practice and a certain direction and in the following years he’d start learning other fighting arts as well as taking part in local amateur fighting contests. When he was still quite young he began seeing spirits and discovering no one else could see them he quickly learnt to keep his mouth shut otherwise he might end up in what his father called a “loony bin” which was something the young teen feared.

When he was 16, on his way home from a kickboxing class, Charlie was mugged by five local thugs some of which had knives. In his anger he discovered his powers for the first time and beat the men into unconsciousness. Leaving the bleeding broken bodies he ran and never looked back. In time he’d learn to use these powers far more productively so as to not accidentally hurt anyone. Upon turning 18 he turned his amateur fighting career into something more serious taking part in Full Contact Karate competitions and MMa contests all across North America. In time he would move onto international fighting competitions across various continents but despite winning many high profile contests he never made much money due to making bad deals and being too unfamiliar with how the business worked to realise. He was able to use his powers, to a lesser extent, to OKO other fighters although he tried to not use them but his naturally growing strength and speed was difficult to completely hide.

When he was 32 and thinking of retiring the man was attacked one night by a huge lovecraftian beast. Almost being killed Charlie was saved by a woman in black robes armed with a sword. After slaying the monster the woman was pleasant enough to chat, telling him what she was and that the monster was a corrupted Human Spirit called a Hollow. However what stuck with Charlie, and pissed him off, was that the Shinigami said that Humans had no place fighting them and should stay out of the way so her people could do their jobs. Furious at the implication that Humans were weak defenceless babes in their own world Charlie decided he would find a way to prove her wrong.

Deciding to focus on his own powers, which had never grown over the years due to his neglect, Charlie quit professional fighting, took his limited savings, and moved to Okinawa. Refocusing on his traditional martial arts training he began to relearn how to manipulate his Chi. While living in Okinawa he met a fellow Karateka and American called Michelle. She turned out to be a former professional kickboxer as well and the two began hanging out as well as training together. Within 3 years the pair were happily married.

Revealing his powers to his wife, at her insistence, Charlie began trying to teach the woman his skills although he found it difficult to explain what came to him so easily. However he found the longer she spent living with him the stronger her own inner energy became. Then, after nearly five years, she finally was able to manifest a watered down version of his own powers. Overjoyed he began to plan to try and find others who he could teach the same skills to realising that they needed to have the detectable inner river of energy to harness what Charlie called The Killing Fist.

In 2017 to move away, Michelle having found work in Tokyo, the pair moved to a City called Karakura Town near the Capital. Having no other skills than his fists Charlie opened a Okinawan Karate Dojo in a small area above a gym although he was forced to teach BJJ and Kickboxing to get enough students to make a living.

For a time life was good until, suddenly, his Wife didn’t come home one night from a late jog. Worried Charlie set out to find her only to discover her lying bloody on the ground with a man nearby holding a glowing bow. Nearly attacking him the stranger quickly stopped him explaining she had been killed by a Hollow due to her “Reiatsu”, apparently the name for the inner energy that Charlie referred to as Chi. The man called himself a Quincy, a more traditional type of Spiritualist, and explained that Hollow hunt such people who have higher than average Spiritual Energy but lack the powers to fully defend themselves. The Quincy also noted this particular Hollow had been unusually powerful. Saying he was sorry for his loss the Quincy left Charlie to his grief.

For a time Charlie considered leaving Karakura but decided that, if this place was so active with Hollow, then he would simply use that as a way to get stronger. Or die trying.

After recovering from his initial grief Charlie moved his small dojo to a larger facility albeit in a less pleasant part of the City. Using the majority of his remaining savings, as well as getting some financial aid, he opened a new larger Dojo in a converted warehouse.

To this day he trains at his Dojo by day and hunts the monsters by night so that they can’t hurt anyone else.

The Power: Chi/Ki Control

At a young age Charlie discovered his Spiritual Powers although at first the sight of spectres and monsters simply confused him. In time he learnt, heavily influenced by his martial arts training, he discovered a way to manipulate the energy within himself. By manipulating this energy, which he refers to as Chi or Ki, Charlie is capable of superhuman feats.

Stage 1: Killing Fist

Charlie’s first time he used his powers was, at the age of 16, when he was mugged by a group of local thugs. Angry at the situation that, despite years of martial arts, he couldn’t do anything against a group of assholes some of which had knives he imagined hurting them. As he did so his fists began to glow and he felt strong. Throwing himself at them the following fight nearly left the five older teens nearly dead. Although this power has always been associated with Charlie’s anger and rage he has, through training, learnt to activate it while focusing his emotions. In the last decade he discovered that he can teach a weaker version of this ability to certain Humans.

Appearance:
The energy basically appears as an ethereal green flame, growing paler towards the center, although it gives off no heat but rather is just a concentrated version of his Reiatsu aura. A strange side effect is that while the power is active Charlie's eyes glow a pale green-white with a mist-like energy drifting out of his sockets

Passive: Teachable
A Watered down version of the Killing Fists can be taught to Human Spiritualists who have the ability to manipulate their personal flow of energy appropriately.

Active: Physical Empowerment
By coating his hands and forearms in energy which Charles can increase the power of his unarmed attacks. This lets him strike harder, defend against weapons or supernatural claws without being cut. With this power his attacks can shatter even armour.
