Clothing and Accessories:
Prefers traditional Japanese clothing when relaxing and wears his priestly attire when fulfilling his duties at the Shrine. For day-to-day business out in public he usually wears a suit or jeans and a t-shirt depending on his plans for the day.

Generalized Appearance:
Genji is a tall Japanese man in his mid-twenties. He is in very good physical shape being lean with broad shoulders and well developed arms from a lifetime of archery alongside his other athletic hobbies. He has long silky black hair which he keeps tied back in a loose ponytail. He also keeps himself well groomed and clean shaven.

A very pretty man, too much so to be described as classically handsome, it would not be unfair to say that he is very beautiful. His eyes have been described as “bewitching” and almost seem to gleam when they catch the light.

He has very delicate features and long fingers with short well-kept nails.

He often is seen around the Shrine wearing his white Kyudo Hakama.

Spiritual Pressure Analysis
In its typical state Genji’s Spiritual Energy appears as a soft blue which drifts around him insubstantially like a gentle mist. It rolls off the man gently as tendrils flicker out to brush against those who get too close which can convey a pleasant, warm feeling along with a sensation of peace developed from a lifetime of meditative and religious practice.

However when engaged in combat the Reiatsu becomes more akin to a blue flame roaring around and enveloping the man while giving off a sensation of pure violence without hatred or emotion. In these moments Genji’s aspect as a Priest of a War God become most evident.

Overall Personality:
Genji is a gentle soul being generally quiet and somewhat reserved but fully capable of speaking when the mood or need arises. A man who gives off a serene aura without meaning to he belies this first impression by being quick to smile and laugh when chatting with others. A friendly man, Genji prefers pleasantries to hostilities. Some of his friends often joke that he's an old man in a young man’s body.

Outside of his Kyudo practice and his role as a Shrine Priest he is surprisingly sloppy and rough sometimes even given the impression that he’s a little lazy and not overly concerned with his image.

He has a dislike towards formality preferring to deal with others in an informal way. A kindly individual he’s a good listener and often is relied on by those within his social circle for advice.

Although an easygoing man he can surprise others by his seriousness and stubbornness in certain individuals.

Positive Traits:

Approachable: A warm and pleasant man being open to listening to the problems of others while offering advice when it’s suitable. Genji is seen as very approachable by his acquaintances. Even those who barely know him get the feeling that he’s trustworthy and comfortable to confide in.
Confident: A quiet sort of confidence the man rarely doubts himself and sees little point in fretting over past decisions.
Dedicated: Genji has spent his entire life pursuing his duties as a Shrine Priest and a Quincy, he has also never missed a day of training. Even when in dispute with his father and choosing to study abroad there was never any doubt that he would return.
Gentle: Everything from the tone of his voice to his appearance speaks of softness and kindness. Although in truth this gentle nature hides a trained warrior.
Moral: Genji has a code of conduct, honor, behavior… whatever you want to call it. He is a fair and good man who believes that it’s only natural to be so.
Open-Minded: Genji is fully aware of how easy it is to get trapped by your own perceptions. As such he’s typically open to listening to the viewpoints of others.
Protective: As a Quincy and a Priest of Hachiman he believes it’s his place to protect those who can’t protect themselves.
Reliable: A trustworthy soul when Genji says he’s going to do something then he’ll do it. He sometimes offers to help too much.

Negative Traits:

Duty-Bound: Much of Genji’s life is without freedom. Although he doesn’t resent it the fact is that as a Quincy, a Priest and a Teacher the man is bound by many expectations.
Hunter: Genji may be a gentle soul but the fact is by blood and training he is a Hunter of Hollow. He has destroyed countless such creatures and has never thought second about doing so.
Non-Confrontational: Genji hates fighting with friends and family so much that he’ll typically do what he can to avoid such confrontations. This is part of the reason he moved to England to study after a series of nasty arguments with his Father.
Prejudiced: Much of Genji’s pleasantness only stretches as far as being relevant when dealing with Humans. He sees Hollow as nothing but beasts, even if they can talk, and Shinigami as the fascist jackboots of a genocial bunch of long-lived villains.
Proud: Although he tries to hide it, the fact is that Genji is proud of his heritage and quietly sees his nature as an Echt Quincy as making him more than a mere man.
Stretched-Thin: Genji is a little too willing to lend a helping hand. The man runs from job to favor to duty without pause and is slowly wearing himself down.
Stubborn: Genji has a stubborn streak and when it rears its ugly head it can take a miracle to make him move on the topic.

Loyalties:

The Ishikawa Family: Genji is the heir to an ancient and venerable bloodline. He loves his family, despite past grievances and will do anything to protect both his relatives and their reputation.
The Karakura Hachimangū: The Senior Priest of his Family’s Shrine standing just beneath his Father. He is also a Senior Instructor at the Kyudo Dojo.
Karakura Town Humans: The Ishikawa Clan are the traditional defenders of the Karakura Humans. Despite their lack of numbers, the growing spiritual activity in the town and the Clan’s struggling to keep up with the threats Genji is undaunted and will continue to do his best in protecting the defenseless souls of the community.

Goals:

Defend Karakura Town: Genji feels duty bound, and bound by his humanity, to protect the Town.
Stand Up to the Soul Society: The Quincy have spent 1,000 years in hiding and fear. Now that the Soul Society knows they exist it’s time for change. Genji will grow strong enough to stand up to their murderous minions.
Surpass his Ancestors: The Ishikawa Clan have a rich heritage as a prestigious family who have had great Samurai and Warrior-Monks amongst their ranks. Even Genji’s father, a great Quincy by modern standards, can’t measure up to their forefathers. Genji plans to bring new heights of power to his Clan.

Hobbies:

Archery: Genji is a skilled archer. A competition winning kyūdōka, a former competition winning olympic recurve archer and a skilled Quincy using the spiritual bow of his people. He deeply enjoys his training and practicing of these skills.
Hiking: Sometimes Genji needs to clear his head and he will head out to more rural settings to stretch his legs.
Running: Genji goes jogging every morning and takes part in various local marathons for fun.

BACKGROUND

Born in Karakura Town
Begins his Quincy training alongside his Kyudo and Shrine Priest training from a young age to prefer him for his future responsibilities.
Attends Karakura High School.
Wins his first Kyudo Competition as a young teenager.
Begins learning Western Sport Archery from a School Club.
His sister Yua is killed by Hollow in Berlin.
After a heated argument with his father he moves to England to study for a History and Philosophy degree.
Returns to Karakura Town and is named Heir to the Family.
Takes his position as a Senior Priest of the Shrine.
Becomes the Coach for the Karakura High School Kyudo Club.

Overarching History
Genji was born in the Karakura Town to the ancient, but fading in glory, Ishikawa Clan. The second child and eldest son, he was significantly younger to his sister Yua who had been born when their parents were quite young. Despite this age gap he was very close to his sister and looked up to her.

At a young age his parents began his Quincy training by teaching him of their history, traditions and their natural enemies the Hollow as well as the monstrous murderers known as Shinigami. By the time he was 10 Genji could already materialize an energy bow.

Alongside his Quincy training Genji was also trained in what would be expected of him as a Shrine Priest, and he was already helping his father out at the Shrine when he was 11 years old.

His parents also taught him Kyudo so that when he entered High School and joined the sports club that he’d fit in with ease. He also joined a small sports club at school that practiced Olympic Recurve Archery.

Growing up the family would continue to grow as two younger siblings were born - Haru and Akari. Thanks to their parents' influence all four siblings were extremely close to one another.

Genji was a good student at school but he was constantly overshadowed by Yua who excelled in every endeavor she turned her mind to. The girl’s Spiritual Power was already greater than either of their parents while she was still in High School. Despite this Genji never felt jealous and was deeply thankful to have such a wonderful person as his older sister.

Towards the end of his time at High School Genji learnt that his sister had been killed by Hollow in Berlin. He blamed his father’s obsession with blood purity stating that if Yua hadn’t been paired up with Michael O’Donovan due to their father’s scheming then she’d have been back in Japan before it could ever happen.

This argument spun off into further arguments with Genji stating that they should be allowed to marry whoever they wanted and, to make up for their low numbers, they should turn to the old ways and take in Mixed-Blood Quincy as servants and retainers. The argument grew heated enough that Genji applied to study abroad and went to University in England for five year studying both his Bachelors and Masters abroad.

While in England Genji ran a Kyudo Club, took part in (and won) European Competitions as well as competing successfully in Western Archery contests as well.

At 25 years old Genji returned to Japan and quietly made up with his Father. Taking up his role as a Senior Priest at the Family’s Shrine he also returned to working as an active Quincy, something he’d put aside while living abroad - too conscious that his sister had died in a foreign country and believing that his family wouldn’t survive losing another child.

He was also approached by a teacher and supervisor of the Karakura High School Kyudo Club and asked to act as a Coach for the students to which he agreed, inviting them to use his Shrine’s Dojo free of charge.

He has also been in contact with the O’Donovan family promising to find their lost son.

Reishi Weapon: Heilig Bogen - A basic bow made up of pale blue spiritual energy. The Heilig Bogen is the traditional basic weapon of the Quincy. Genji customised his bow to be longbow length standing taller than the man himself.
