Birthdays are Such Fun! (Open)

Arpil 6th. To anyone else, this would have been a normal day. However, for the Baozhai, in particular one Meili Yan Baozhai, it was a day of celebration. For you see, fifteen years ago to the day, Meili was born. Yes, it was her birthday today.

Most 15 year olds wouldn't care about their birthday, however, Meili's was special. Unlike most families that celebrated every year, the Baozhai family celebrates birthdays in a more unique way. Every five years, there is a huge celebration thrown for the birthday recipient, with ceremonial dances, fights, and more. It was generally expected that the recipient take part in one of these ceremonial events, and Meili's choice this year had been the ceremonial fights.

She had also invited several of her friends, former classmates, and new squad mates to join in on the celebration, and she hoped they would be joining them soon.

So there stood Meili waiting by the door, dressed in a much more ceremonial qipao than usual, her dress being a bright emerald green, dark silhouettes of birds flying across her small bosom. She greeted each and every guest as they entered, still not seeing anyone she had actually hoped would come, but still happy nonetheless that people aside from her family were actually showing up.

Ah. Yes. A party. Because the last one ended so well!

The wolf let loose an annoyed sigh, steeling herself outside the entrance to the Baozhai home. She just had to remind herself that this was for Meili's sake. Also, no starting fights. Also also, keep her nose open for poisons. That should cover things well enough.

Not knowing what her friend might desire as a gift Yuki had decided to bring both. The first was a small jar of strawberry jam. She had looked into how she might make it herself, and had even practiced some! Of course Rei had attempted to take over, but Yuki had insisted upon putting her own effort into the gift. She didn't think it turned out too bad. Just in case however she had brought a second gift: a pair of weighted sap gloves within a small polished wood box. They looked like normal black velvet gloves, but they were weighted to pack an extra punch! Literally!

"Hello Meili. Happy birthday."

As Yuki arrived at the front and spotted her friend she approached, lowering her head in a respectful bow. She wore a black kimono with red trim and red blossoms, most of which scattered across the bottom of the gown. Her eyepatch even had a single red blossom. Of course like any good member of her squad she also had her weapon sheathed at her side. Nobody was parting it from her.
