Jun Aizawa Mrtfrcn

I D E N T I F I C A T I O N

Name: Jun Aizawa
Apparent Age: 30
Actual Age: 194
Squad: 6th Division
Rank: Unseated

Eye Color: Hazel that shifts to Copper under the right lighting
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 198 lbs.
Hair Color and Style: Jun's hair is a rich chocolate brown.  His hair falls to just about the nape of his neck and hangs wildly, portions of it jut out from the back and the sides like a mixture of bed head and gel. The bangs are combed to part towards the right side of his face with a small bit of it falling in between his eyes.  His sideburns reach down to his earlobes.  All in all his hair has the appearance of someone who purposely wakes up in the morning and then does their head to seem as if they just woke up while still being stylish.
Clothing and Accessories: Jun has done little to customize the standard Shihakusho administered to all shinigami. However, that is not to say that he has not tampered with it in the least. Small changes have been made for aesthetic purposes without going against the regulated clothing for a shinigami within the 6 divisions. The white shitagi which is worn under the black kosode has also been altered minimally. In the case of the shitagi it has been altered into being sleeveless so that when Jun rolls up the sleeves of his kosode his arms can remain bare.  Jun will also typically wear red wristbands and if going into combat will even put on a red pauldron on his left shoulder to protect that side from any downward angled blows.

The faux bodies he uses when entering the human world generally wear comfortable clothing. Green and red are frequent color choices for his outfits and he really only sways from that when wearing blue jeans. For the most part though he particularly enjoys wearing hoodies or ratty t-shirts of bands he has listened to over the years. Shorts are also a common occurrence and are worn even when they are out of place, such as in winter. The total outfit fits well when he accompanies it with sneakers and a backwards hat.  Another staple form of headwear that he prefers is the beanie which he wears firmly over his untamed hair.  In his gigai Jun also fancies accessories.  On his right earlobe is a piercing of a musical note.  It is a stud and does not dangle from his ear.  However, it is still very noticeable.  Jun also prefers to wear expensive sunglasses.  His favorites are top of the line HUD sunglasses.  On the outside they just look like regular glasses coming in various styles from aviators to slim and sleek cubed lenses.  However, the glasses have using digital imagery can creating images out of pixels that are both easy to see through for the wearer and easily visible by everyone else.  Jun’s favorite images are that of the shinigami symbol placed on badges for temporary shinigami and the letters S.S.  One look and it is clear that style isn’t exactly his strong point because even though he appears thirty he dresses as if he is in his teens.

Generalized Appearance: Jun is very well built as all shinigami should be. Constant training from boyhood has sculpted a body fit to work the dangerous job he performs. Every muscle on his body is well defined and flexes under his command. His arms are strong, but not bulky.  They are built to be able to lift things much greater than his own weight while not sacrificing speed and flexibility.  His legs have been crafted for stamina and have been molded through long hours of cardio.  His stomach and chest overall look like something you might find in a fitness magazine.  Combined with his broad shoulders the startling six pack and pectoral muscles give off the impression of his warrior heritage and position.  He has a few scars, but most are well hidden under the robes. Only two really stand out. The first is a rather vicious looking gash along his back which takes up nearly the entire center of it. The other is actually a set of 3 scars over his left eye, leftovers from a fight with a Hollow.
Spiritual Pressure Analysis: Jun's power feels quiet and ominous.  Like the silence at final death.

Overall Personality: Jun is a driven individual reaching for lofty goals all while finding solace in the fact that he has brothers and sisters in arms within the Division.  He has his quirks and can be a bit silly at times, but ultimately he acts by a strong moral compass that guides him in all his actions and has never shied away from a fight.  In fact, he is relentless in his training and honing of his martial skills seeing it as the ultimate responsibility of a Shinigami to be a weapon that protects the Souls of Earth and Soul Society.

He has a passion for music and tends to keep himself planted more firmly in the here and now rather than the past or future.  He takes the lessons of his youth to hear and certainly has firm goals, but recognizes that by getting lost in either he won't be able to take the next immediate step on his life's path.  In comparison to his fellow Shinigami he isn't anything special.  He isn't a tactical genius, no paragon of nobility, he certainly isn't the role model of Seireitei.  However, he is unshakeable, with will of iron.  He tends to laugh in the face of adversity or danger.  Despite this though, it's unknown even to him whether he laughs because he truly doesn't care or if he does so because laughing helps push down the demons that threaten to rear their ugly heads.

Positive Traits:
  • Respectful: Although there are moments where he bypasses formality he does demand proper respect be given to those who deserve it and will always pay it to others.
  • Family Oriented: For better or for worse his Division is Jun's family.  As an orphan of Rukongai the Division was his first real family and because of that he will do anything for them.
  • Not Picky: Jun simply cannot pass up a good meal. However, he does not have the refined palette of many of his family members. No, Jun would be happy tearing into beef that was cooked into charcoal. Meat is Meat!
  • Hardworking: One doesn't escape the slums of Rukongai and make it into the Divisions of Soul Society without a considerable amount of hardwork.  Jun exhibits this truth.  He believes that Soul Society cannot advance unless on the backs of hardworking individuals carrying it into the future.
  • Idealist: Most of all Jun truly believes that despite all the bad happening in the Rukongai true change can happen and the Souls of Earth and Soul Society are better off with the Shinigami protecting them.  Without the Shinigami willing to fight the threat of Hollows the balance will be ruined and all those defenseless Souls will be consumed.
  • Humorous: Jun tends to be a quirky person in front of those he is familiar with.  He is quick to smile and even quicker to laugh.

Negative Traits:
  • Merciless: Although kind to his friends and other shinigami Jun is also merciless in battle. In his eyes it is not up to him to show mercy to the enemy. A hollow is simply reaping what they have sown and all other enemies of Soul Society will either have their chance at mercy before Central 46 or have already been found not deserving of mercy by Central 46.
  • Reckless: Although not about to needlessly put himself in harm's way Jun does approach danger with an almost adrenaline junkie attitude.  He is unafraid to put himself into a disadvantageous position in a fight if necessary or even jump headlong into an unwinnable situation if there is a point to it.  It is uncertain whether he is fearless to a fault or has something to prove to himself.
  • Contradictory: Jun tends to contradict himself in many aspects of his life.  For example although he is merciless with Hollows he has been found to shed tears over their fall and necessary cleansing.  Although respectful of the chain of command he has been cited on more than one occasion for spouting idealistic rhetoric designed to change the status quo.  These contradictions make it difficult for people to trust what he stands for and as he rises he will no doubt invite enemies from those in power, leaving him with fewer allies then enemies.
  • Over Eater:  Matching his early statement of being contradictory Jun has both the good quality of not being picky with the bad quality of eating everything and anything he could get his hands on.  There is never a moment where Jun couldn’t enjoy a good bite to eat and he happily obliges downing meal after meal even if it does not paint him in the most favorable and noble light.

Loyalties:
  • Division 6
  • Citizens of the Rukongai

Goals:
  • Alter the system of Central 46
  • Aid the citizens of the Rukongai
  • Make sense of the whispers that permeate his dreams
  • Eliminate all threats to Soul Society

Habits:
  • Sweet Tooth: Jun has a bit of a sweet tooth which he indulges in often and at the worst times.
  • Inappropriate Stretching: Jun has a tendency to stretch and scratch himself in odd manner when he is relaxing.  There has been a few times where a friend looked on mesmerized and a little disgusted as Jun scratched and then picked his ear with a foot he managed to fold all the way up to reach it.

Overarching History
Jun doesn't remember much of his human life.  He only knows for sure that he was born and died on Earth.  He is confident he lived somewhere in Japan, probably one of the major cities since he doesn't have any of the skills to make it as a tradesman or farmer living out in the rural country.  At some point he did die and it had to be while he was still young.  He remembers more clearly his time as a Plus more clearly and he was a child back then.  Perhaps an illness got to him or it was an accident.  As far as he is concerned it might be better that he doesn't remember.  He didn't exactly have it easy once he became a Soul so why would being alive have been any different.  Better to not remember it then regret what could have been.

After Jun died he was a Plus, one of the unlucky Souls unable to pass on their own.  In Jun's case he felt connected to a long abandoned shrine, unable to move on.  Even now he still isn't sure what his unfinished business was.  Was he perhaps buried somewhere on that shrine waiting to be found?  Maybe he wanted someone to visit him there or for the shrine to be revitalized and used by the populace once more?  He will never know.  As a Jibakurei he was bound to that shrine and although it took some time, eventually he was found.  His first experience with a Hollow was traumatic, even after he passed over to the Rukongai he would still wake up at night to the sounds of that Hollow's shrieks.  The deathly scream of the predator so close to entrapping its prey.  Jun was certain he would die that day a second time, to the Hollow.  That his spirit would be consumed by the beast.  He was saved.  A Shinigami had been tracking the Hollow and found it just moments before it could finish Jun off.  Jun was left with a souvenir of scars on his face and body, but his soul was saved and the Shinigami completed their duty by performing the Konso and seeing Jun off to Soul Society.

Waking up in the Rukongai, a small child, wasn't easy.  Jun found himself in the slums of District 71 on the West side.  It was no place for a child and it was only by the grace of a kindly old woman that Jun found any solace there.  It was Babba Thrace, or Big Babba as he called her, that took young Jun in.  She protected him against the gangs who pressed other children into hard labor or crime.  It was she who found food when he started exhibiting a hunger that was not normal for most Souls in the Rukongai.  It wasn't easy for Big Babba so the second Jun was old enough, big enough, and importantly strong enough he did what he could to help.  Rather join a gang though he sought a different route.  He wanted to repay Big Babba and make the District safer for her and others like her.  People who were better off in the lower numbers, but for one reason or another were stuck in the slums of the Rukongai.

Jun began a life as a vigilante and thief.  The gangs made their living by taking what little the destitute and poor had in the Rukongai.  Individually the average citizen had little to take.  However, once gathered by the gangs it meant they had a lot to lose.  Jun would ambush them, attack their stores, and on occasion even set fires to force higher authorities to venture out and crack down on the high numbered Districts.  These reckless actions did put innocent people at risk, but whatever surplus he didn't need he gave back to the people of the Rukongai.  It earned him their amnesty and at least a a willingness to look the other way.  This went on for a few years, but every good run comes to an end.  Eventually the gangs realized that their pride or fear of showing weakness wasn't worth the damage one individual was doing.  They banded together and laid a trap for Jun that almost cost him his life.  He ended up back at Big Babba's looking almost as bad as he had the first time she found him.  She nursed him back and made it clear that the fool better stop this business or she'd never speak to him again.  Not wanting to upset his surrogate mother Jun made the hard choice of walking away from being a vigilante and seeking another path.

If he couldn't do good out of a uniform perhaps he could do some good in one.  It had been made clear that hunger wasn't something commonly found among Souls.  That it was a sign of someone had developed enough Reiatsu that they needed it to survive.  It was also something one needed if they were to become a Shinigami.  At the time Jun had been preoccupied running around hitting the various gangs.  Now, it seemed like an excellent way to get out of the Rukongai until things blew over and perhaps do some good from another direction.  He had after all still felt fondly of the Shinigami who had saved him from the Hollow.

Six years flew by for Jun in the Academy.  The combat experience he had in the Rukongai paled in comparison to the official training he received, but it wasn't wasted.  Same for his strong belief systems and drive to do more.  When he eventually passed and was processed he had been hoping to go into the 1st Division.  To start making his mark on the administration.  However, he might have been too outspoken while still in the Academy and had ruffled more than a few feathers.  Ultimately, he heard from an instructor that it had come down to 5th or 6th.  Only his already existing connections to the Rukongai had edged out the decision in comparison to his fervor for a good fight.

Now a member of the 6th Division all that is left is to continue to grow as a Shinigami.  Only by getting stronger will Jun be able to make the sort of difference he wants, to protect all the people he wishes to.  He must make that a reality.

Sealed Zanpakuto: In its sealed state his zanpakuto is looks much like every other zanpakuto, with a few quirks to differentiate.  The blade length is average for a katana, roughly 70 cm long.  The blade itself is elegant in design the metal having seemingly been folded over and over again for maximum cutting potential.  The blade itself has also been altered so that the hamon, the wavy line along the edge of the weapon signifying its sharpness, has a unique design to it.  The hamon is in the shape of a traditional Japanese dragon its body having no wings just a snake like form that that slithers along his blade.  At the tip of the blade the mouth of the dragon closes over a unique flower, the symbol of the Aizawa Clan.

The guard is a small oval with four spikes equidistant around the guard.  The hilt is done in violet colored silk with a bronze piece at the end.  The silk is woven around the hilt to expose the hilt underneath as small diamonds.  The sheath matches the hilt by taking on a similar violet color and has been made out of wood.  The final piece to Jun’s sealed zanpakutou and perhaps the most unorthodox piece, that is of a tiny nohkan flute tied like a keychain from a string tethered to the bottom of the hilt.
