Things Fall Apart Empty Things Fall Apart

Post by Riku Takahashi Thu Aug 13, 2020 2:14 pm

It was an unusually quiet night. The wind had died, the sounds of the town all but present; the normal subconsciously drowned out noises of insects were gone. All that could be heard were the sound of Riku's harsh panting as he struggled to breathe; eyes closed as he continued to try supporting himself on his hands and knees on the tatami.

The sounds of a wet crunchy splattering and muffled, pain-filled screaming, alerted the young boy of his surroundings, and away from his own predicament. Opening his eyes, and tilling his head slowly upwards, rest of his struggling breath was taken away upon the sight.

Feet away from him, down the hall in which he had forcefully collapsed, was what Riku could only hope was the scene of avid nightmare.

The door to his father's room was ripped off the henches, bearing raked marks upon hit,as it rested a skewed in the hallway. Blooded rake marks ran along the matted floor, leading to what was before him now.

His father hung in the air, without support; his left arm on the ground, separated from his body as blood pooled and soaked around it. Riku watched in dazed horror as the tall, well built man was launched into the hallway wall, then launched into the other; an action that repeated in a macabre version pinball.

Riku made to call out to his father, no thought or planned action to the gesture, but no sound came, as the air once more strangled out of him; a distant sound of rattling echoed in his ear.

He watched in continued horror as the man was once more held aloft, then with unimaginable precision, Riku watched as his left leg came undone below the knee in slow, meticulous and unseen means; his father screaming out in muffled pain. The wet squelching sound returned once more in full

A spike of fear, poured a surge of adrenaline within the teen boy, and Riku found himself turning, and making clumsy movements to get away from whatever was happening to his father; the confusing sounds of distant ringing chains echoing as he did so.

Until they came to an adrupt halt; a feeling of taut pressure precluded the stra ge happenings, along with Riku finding that he could go no further.

The squelching stopped.

Never had he been some terrified in his life. Never before, had Riku dreaded turning around to see what was behind him. But he did. Some imstinct; some drive or sound or force or fate or flying spaghetti monster, demanded that he turned around.

He did so; with terror filled apprehension, Riku turned his head around and looked once more at his father.

The man hung there, nearly lifeless, as his life fluid trinkled out in short, constant droplets. But it wasn't that which taught Riku's attention. No...slightly beside and infront of his father, was what Riku could only make out to be the faint silhouette of a woman; her long hair aiding in frame her darker outline than that of the surrounding darkness. Her feet hidden in what possibly could be a dress or gown of some kind.

The outline of her head, turned to face him.

Riku sharply inhaled as he realized he had somehow gained the attention of what could only be the cause of his father's predicament. Was he to be next? Was it the reason why he couldn't breath; he couldn't move? What was it to do all these things?

Thoughts and questions raced a crossed his fear addled mind as he continued to stare unblinkingly at the area his predisposed senses believed its eyes would be located.

The thing stared back.

It continued to stare.

It turned! Causing Riku to release the breath he had been subconsciously holding; making him loosen the tautness of the force, and sound of distant rattling.

The thing turned back and focused its attention upon him, causing Riku to go still once more. The outline remained unnaturally still, almost to the point of having Riku believe he was seeing things, if not for the slowing dying presence of his floating father. Seemly unconcerned with his lack of action; it focused once more on his father, and began it's murderous monstrations.

Riku could only look on in horror as the butchering continued, reach its peak, then ended; his father little more thatln pieces than an actual person. What could he have done? He couldn't take, he couldn't move, he could barely even make sense of everything that was happening, let alone do anything about it. But that didn't matter now...as it was his turn...

Riku turned his gaze down onto the floor, breathing coming much easier, as he awaited his demise. There was an occasion rattling of chains, akin to the flow of someone walking, which could only be death approaching. Closing his eyes, he waited for the pain to start.

He waited.

And waited some more.

Angry indignation at being toyed with, made Riku speak out for the first time.
"If...y-you're going...to kill me...j-just do so...already!"  he managed to pant out.

Biting pain; Crippling pressure surged through his very being, as his head was forced to look upwards. His site filled by the outline of an outline of what could only be a woman; whom was currently looming over him.

A force pulled him bodily upwards with a start, and it did not let up, until he found his footing; a fact which took some time due to the pressure he was painfully feeling by whatever the thing was doing to him. The sound of rattling chains grew insistent as the pressure remain a forceful tautness towards the outline-woman, and Riku found his body moving against his will towards it; his body moving with stilted movements in a parody of walking, as he was forcefully marched towards the door that would take him out the house.

Despite his panted protests and attempts to stop, the outline had him walk over the remains of his father, out the door, and slowly down the road; his barefeet and pajama attire of no concern to the figure, as she...it?...lead him as they pleased.

Things Fall Apart Empty Re: Things Fall Apart

Post by Riku Takahashi Fri Aug 14, 2020 10:07 pm

The human mind can adapt to any situation, given enough time to do so. Embedded within all of them, was the instinctive drive to survive and thrive; this drive, will overcome any obstacle and fear, in order to ensure the survival of the species as a whole.

As he sat down, feeling the vibration of the train below him as it rumbled along, ignored the occasional cautious, yet inquisitive glances of the few passengers commuting at the relatively late our; his pajama wearing appearance making him stick out like a sore thumb to the normally conservative society, let alone the splatters of blood that and seemed to find their way during the events that had occurred. And his shadow of a shadow, tormentor seemly standing in the walkway; unseen watchful eyes focused intently on him.

Riku found himself in that particular scenario. To be so utterly terrified, that he had looped back to thinking clearly and logically about his situation.

He sighed as he contempted his situation, bringing his dirty, dry-bloodied feet, onto the seat as he made to give himself the illusion of comfort and security. A sudden movement out the corner of his eye made him halt and turn to it however, just in time to see an older teen seemly turning her phone away from him.

Riku sighed as that just reinforced the matter. His life was ruined was it...realistically, someome would've heard the screams of literal bloody murder, and called the police. They would arrive at his home, and see the gruesome scene and him gone. It was all circumstantial, but he was the only suspect of his father's murder; even if tall, dark and terrifying somehow left prints.

Then what? They somehow prosecute the supernatural? If he even brought it up, the least of his worries would them deeming he suffered from the same ailments as his mother, and be confine just as she had.

That...wasnt an option. And that wasn't even taking into consideration the several misdemeanors he had done to get onto the train without any money.

Sighing, feeling too tired to care about the ramifications of being seen right now, as a couple walked pass and through his tormentor, Riku forced himself to focus on the entity before him.

Collecting both his breath and courage to form the words in his mind, Riku asked in a whisper to it, "Are...you sen...sentient?" There was a slight shift in the shadow of a shadow, but nothing else happened.

Until there was the brief sound of rattling chains.

It was more distinct; real, than it had been before. That, and he was consciously aware of the insistent weight of...something surrounding his body, now that his focus was on it. But given himself a mental shake, Riku focused once more on his strange interaction with the thing.

"Was...was that...a yes?" he offered out with his shortened breath.

It rattled once more.

Riku blinked at that, then spoke. "Can you...speak?"

Rattle.

"Will you...talk to...me...instead of...doing whatever...with that...chain sound?"

No sound came. Riku frowned as he tried to work out what that meant. He made to question deeper into it while his strange capturer was in its civil mood.

"Have...you been...talking?"

Rattle.

"So...I can't...understand...you?"

RATTLE.

The shaking of the chains came out loudly and insistently in Riku's ear as a reply. This thing had been communicating with him? When? Why?

"What do...you want...with me?"

No rattling sounded upon that question, causing Riku to realize his mistake. He would be forced to ask questions that could be answered with a simple yes or no. With that in mind, he continued.

"Did you...know my...father."

Rattle.

"Do you...know me?"

Rattle.

Riku frowned at that confirmation. It was deeply disconcerting to have some invisible supernatural entity to be consciously aware of you, while you had been ignorant to its existence for perhaps all your life.

Riku thought on his next course of action; breathing ever so slowly easier, as he got used to the clawing weight of the train. There was one question that he needed answered before anything else came first though.

Focusing on the darker shadowy outline, as the train slowly begun coming to a halt, Riku whispered with trepidation.

"Are you going...are you going to...kill me? For the same reason...you killed my father?"

No answer came, kept for the return of the gnawing, deep inside of him. It wasn't as bad as it was before; akinned to parethesia. But the reminder of how precarious of a position he was in, was jarring from the placating mood it was just in.

Riku watched as shadowy outline of a woman raised its arm; his heart racing as it prepared to fulfill a lifetime's worth of beating, in the few seconds he had...

It caressed his cheek.

Riku stared at it, unseeing, as he felt the gentle pressure of it making contact with his person. Why? Why was it doing this? What is it. What did it want. What did they do to gain its attention. Why him!?

Thoughts still racing, Riku felt his body being forced up off his seat, and then shuffled off the train by his amateur puppet master.

It only took him a small glance around to realize which stop they had made, and as he moved in a familiar path; to realize which he was going and...and potentially whom it was that was ahead of him.

"Kaa...Kaa-sama?" he asked aloud to the thi-...to his mother.

The only confirmation that he got, the only confirmation that he needed, came shortly after.

RATTLE.
