Overarching History
William's a simple boy to be honest. Enjoys a good laugh and fun when he can; likes to experience anything and everything at least twice. Also has fondness for writing in his free time or reading anything that catches his interest.
More territorial than isolationist, though does like to take a breather and recharge in his space every now and then. That's until his friends would drag him out of it for more of their escapades.
However, like everyone, there are sides that remain hidden, except for the few that had been allowed to know them. 'To see others suffer does one good, to make others suffer even more: this is a hard saying but an ancient, mighty, human, all-too-human principle. Without cruelty there is no festival.'
A boy of a dark complexion and slim build, he has his mother's white silky hair, which he keeps short, and stands at 5'6"; which says great things about meeting his father's impressive height of 6' 3"
His love for reading comes from his Japanese mother, who had been kept in a mental institution since he turned seven. He would do so before his mother, Keiko, she would stare passively at him until their time was spent. It came to his understanding, throughout the years as he got older, that he reason he had never witnessed his mother in her supposed episodes, was due to her willingness to accept the drugs on the days of his scheduled visits.
Even up to the day of her taking her life, Riku had never gotten a direct answer of what his mother saw or said during those times.
His father, gave him the drive to push forward despite his problems, and gave Riku his love for structure and routine. Being the husband of a supposed invalid, placed his father under scrutiny of his peers; more so as an everyday salaryman in Chiba, Japan. While he never ended his marriage with his mother, Riku would question his father's love to his mother, as he would avoid the topic when it came up nor join in visiting her, except on the occasion holiday.
Life had continued within his cycle of normality, until the day they received the call of her suicide.
His mother's funeral had been a quiet affair, mostly in part to her lacking social life since her confinement, and the disinterest of her side of the family; coupled with the fact his father migrated to the country, there wasn't more than a handful of them to mourn her loss.
Riku struggled at first to create a new norm after;devoting his time to his studies and to studying psychology; hoping to one day learn what had been wrong with his mother, and to hopefully prevent such cases from happening. This life continued as such, until the day both he and his father received a visit in the middle of the night.
A visitation that would change the way Riku viewed and interacted with the world for the rest of his life...
