Banging The Drum All Day [Marika] Empty Banging The Drum All Day [Marika]

Post by Irvine Bradford Tue Jul 28, 2020 5:10 pm

Sixth day in a row for nice hot weather, Irvine was feeling good. Today was the day that brings boonful joy for him and whoever wants to partake in the joyful endeavour of his. He had this idea brewing in his mind for quite a while. He had this compound as his home for a long time but rarely ever found himself in using every inch of the room. So considering how Karakura town was ripe for spiritual activity, he had decided that it would be a good investment of both time and space to lease it out to visitors and friends alike.

He thought it was a fine idea, but he also realised a small snag: only one person, and that person was he.

"Hmm,..." he spoke in the middle of the compound, a beautiful, spacious japanese garden, another reason why he needs a handful of people. The garden takes a long time to tend to. At the heart of the garden, lies a parasol with a foldable table hidden under its shade. There were two additional chairs between the flanks and Irvine was occupying one with a stern gaze at the paperwork on his table.

He awaits the arrival of the chosen one.

Marika peeked past the corner of the street that led to Irvine’s, her huge amber eyes scanning the place like if she was studying a fascinating turd. There it was. That guy, and that place, just as arranged.

The girl then sighed with a tired expression, and leaned back, putting her hands on her hips and twisting her sore back side to side, then letting her shoulders and pose roll forwards in defeat. She had dressed up in a tailored white shirt, with her sleeves rolled up, and plain black pants, with her hair held in a mid-height ponytail. Formal, sharp, this was all for a job, after all.

A job at some kind of… inn. Or something. She put a hand to her face in shame - why was she, the greatest genius of this generation, looking for such a suckass job like this? To meet more supernatural beings, of course. Nothing would come without sacrifice, but this sacrifice was just so… Demeaning. Her ego was bleeding with each second she spent in this lame getup, but she had high hopes that it was all going to be worth it in the end.

She stood up straight again, exhaled with determination, and crossed the corner, putting on her best and most friendly smile, as she walked towards the building, eventually coming into Irvine’s view.

“Hello, sir!” she greeted, in perfect keigo - not the trashy baito-keigo that most part-timers learned. C'mon, she was a genius - GENIUS! Even she had been taught to at least try to blend in, there was only so much that she was willing to insult herself with. She then combed a nearly-white blonde tassel into her ear with a dainty hand, and smiled warmly at the Quincy.

“Let’s get started, yes?” she asked, trying to seem enthusiastic about the job. In truth, she was, but not because she was going to get to torture herself with hours of menial and boring work.

The young girl was punctual, smartly dressed, pretty looking and a blonde. Irvine won't question if the hair colour was dyed or natural, but already today was becoming rather interesting. He flashed the ol' Irvine's homely smile as she approached. To be honest, it had been a while since someone came over to his place upon his request. For the most part it was either uninvited or store opening. The latter was no longer a thing, for he had decided that taking a new direction in his business venture was much better than selling wares at the front of his house, no matter how big it is, it's rather unprofessional to be selling these things.

As Marika had gotten closer, he found himself wondering how was his daughter doing lately? Aya had been busy chasing her dreams as a musician, but it wasn't so long ago that he saw her. She had grown to become a beautiful woman, it was his one of many, perhaps one of his biggest that he wasn't there for her when they needed him. It was through his daze that his mind found itself muddled and found himself slipping without knowing.

"Hey there, A-..."
he had managed to catch himself from spilling, lightly scoffing at the mishap. He began to correct his err, addressing himself professionally, "Welcome to Bradford's Inn, a Bed and Breakfast for city-farers who had found themselves in Karakura Town."

That was half truth. His future patron in mind were those who can see and fend off hollows, but he wouldn't deny his services for the unawares now wouldn't he?
