Oshime Enshoku Vgh5qIT

I D E N T I F I C A T I O N

Name: Oshime Enshoku
Apparent Age: Early - mid 20's
Actual Age: 74
Squad: N/A
Rank: Unseated

Eye Color: Gray in one eye, yellow in the other
Height: 5 foot, 2 inches
Weight: 97 lbs
Hair Color and Style: Mostly orange, with blue and black streaks throughout. Long, but somewhat unkempt, falling down her back and near her bottom.
Clothing and Accessories:
Generalized Appearance: When not forced to wear a dreaded Shihakusho, Oshime usually wears and orange shirt with and black mini-vest over it. On her shirt is a simple design of an hourglass, also black in color. Her skirt is blue, usually falling down to just above her knees. While not clothing per se, Oshime almost never goes around without her plush giraffe named Mortimer. Not exactly inconspicuous, what with her many bright, vibrant colors, but Oshime tends to prefer not being noticed. That being said, her clothing and plush companion tend to make that a bit more difficult that she would like to admit. Her gait is somewhat widened by her secret clothing, but she also is a bit of a stammerer and a klutz so it's hard to notice anything different like that.
Spiritual Pressure Analysis: Chaotic and hard to read, much like Oshime herself. At times it is calm and serene and at others it is wild and nearly unreadable, like a toddler on a sugar rush.

Overall Personality: Oshime's personality is a schism; for the most part she is intelligent and scientifically minded, but then there is the other part of her, the one she has no explanation for, her utterly childish side. Due to various circumstances that Oshime is not aware of or able to figure out, she has become bladder incontinent and also has bouts of mental regressions, leaving her as naught but an overgrown toddler. While she believes they are entirely connected, her bladder control is always gone, no matter how adult her mind is, so she believes that there might be more to it than it just being part of the same thing that controls her paroxysms of regression. The diapers that she has to wear due to her condition are something Oshime tried desperately to hide from others, afraid of the social consequences that would occur if her condition were known by the Soul Society at large. This insecurity of being found out as sometimes being nothing more than an overgrown toddler has lead to Oshime becoming quite shy, hating when the spotlight is focused on her and shying away from getting too close to people lest they find out one of her numerous secrets she would want to keep hidden.

Positive Traits:
Selfless ~ Oshime will think of others before she thinks of herself. Whether this is her comrades in battle or just an acquaintance in a social situation, Oshime will think of their safety/happiness before she thinks of her own.
Loyal ~ If you've done enough to earn the respect and trust of Oshime, that becomes a hard bond to break. She might even idolize you to the point of ignoring your flaws, for better or for worse.
Intelligent ~ Oshime has quite a lot of booksmarts, spending long periods of her free time reading and studying. She especially has an interest in mortal sciences, Astronomy and Physics in particular, and finds them much more fascinating than Reishi sciences.
Carefree Whimsy ~ With a frequently childish mind comes the kind of innocence and wonder more well-known in children. Sometimes known as ignorance, the cutesiness of it all makes it seem less terrible and more adorable, for those who find the actions of children adorable in the first place.
Creative ~ Oshime's creativity knows no bounds. She will design things with any color combination that she deems fitting, no matter what the device is or how others feel it should look, nor is the form she designs it with restricted to standard appearances. If she felt like placing a laser into a stuffed animal, she would do so faster than she would make a simple laser pistol.

Negative Traits:
X Stubborn ~ In her compromised mindset, Oshime can be very stubborn, just like any toddler would be. While this usually does not translate to her adult mentality, it does it certain respects and instances, especially when a design of hers is called into question or scrutinized.
X Fearful ~ In extreme situations, Oshime's lack of courage can sometimes make itself known, though she can usually keep herself composed enough for all but the most severe situations.
X Immature ~ While her childish mindset can lead to innocence and whimsy, it also is undeniably immature most of the time, which can greatly get on people's nerves, especially those without any sense of humor.
X Procrastination ~ Oshime will likely put off any work that bothers her until the last moment, though she'll usually be pretty eager if the work she is doing excites her, so it depends on the quality of the project she must work on.
X Unorganized ~ Those who dare venture into her apartment will fine it a giant mess of papers and supplies and toys and work and so many more, to the point where it looks like a tornado ran through. However, she actually has a memorized organization system that she could not attempt to explain to others, it's just some form of intuition that allows her to know where everything that she needs is…usually. To others though, it comes across as messy and sloppy.

Loyalties: Anyone able to break through Oshime's many shells and become her friend will have her loyalty almost immediately. Otherwise, her loyalties lie with science first and foremost. The Soul Society itself is mainly an afterthought, though she certainly isn't disloyal.

Goals: Oshime desires most of all to be recognized for her abilities and brains and contributions, and to not be known as the woman with the mind of a toddler. As well, she wishes for peace for all Shinigami, however idealistic that might be. Oshime would really like to have a wide range of friends and acquaintances that care about her and treat her with respect, though she is also afraid of the intimacy that comes with those friends. While she believes it is futile and hopeless, a cure for her conditions is something that Oshime would do almost anything for, though all her attempts thus far have been unsuccessful. As well, Oshime just wants to join the Science division and help it prosper and create wonderful, helpful (and pretty by her standards) inventions for everyone to use for the betterment of the Soul Society.

Habits:
Art ~ Despite her complete lack of artistic ability, Oshime loves to draw very crude images, like the ones you'd see hung on the fridge in a house containing a young child. Especially for her friends, Oshime will sometimes draw pictures of them together as a gift for that person.
Reading ~ Oshime loves to read books of all types, from the most advanced theories of human sciences to the mundane children's books with pop-up images, she'll read them all and be very happy. As such, one of Oshime's favorite places to hangout is in the enormous library in the division headquarters.
Playing ~ Like any child, Oshime loves playing with her favorite toys. From toy cars to dolls, water guns and all other silly toys befitting a child, almost half her office is decorated with toys of some sort, though she tries her best to hide them when she has company.
Tinkering ~ As an inventor and a scientist, as well as a sometimes mental toddler, Oshime's curiosity knows no bounds. She is constantly testing and fiddling with devices and inventions to try and make them better or more efficient, though that does end with a broken device sometimes.
Research ~ While this is also one aspect of her job, Oshime does spend some of her free time working on researching her conditions in order to find a cure. While she had yet to be successful, she is determined to do what she can to make it a reality.

Overarching History
A Life Wrought with Suffering:

Oshime was born in the year of 1946 in a small town near the city of Hiroshima, Japan. As the bombing of Hiroshima was only a year removed from her birth, the ambient radiation in the atmosphere and ground caused health issues as she was growing up. More importantly, though, her mother was diagnosed with cancer just months after she was born, and died on the day of her first birthday. Her father fared somewhat better, though he was never the healthiest of individuals, he still managed to get by with a meager living for him and his daughter. By Oshime's sixth birthday, however, he was growing more distant from her, absorbed in his simple work and not paying attention to his daughter as she struggled more and more each day. He was a crop harvester, though the land was so irradiated that it was very hard to get crops to grow at all, let alone enough to feed his family and trade to resellers.

As a sickly, poor child, all Oshime wanted to do was see the vast world out there and wonder about the mysteries of life and the universe and the sciences all those wonderful things. Though she remained uneducated and without any access to even the most rudimentary of scientific knowledges, all she could do is dream. But that was enough to get her through most of her days, days that grew harder with each day that passed. She liked to imagine that her mother was some sort of scientist that implanted the strive for knowledge and learning in her daughter before she passed away. However, as Oshime grew older, her more logical mind realized the truth, her mother was an uneducated peasant just like her father and she was presumably, though she knew her mother would have loved her had she lived to see her grow up, no matter how sickly she was.

By Oshime's tenth birthday, her sickly body had begun to deteriorate more. Walking was starting to grow painful, and her bladder control had begun to wear away as the weeks passed, starting from just wetting in her sleep to complete and utter lack of any bladder control. Her father stayed out of her life by this point, as if she was just someone who lived in the same house as he did and was still physically fit. It was heartbreaking to watch the man she knew as her father drift away from her like that, especially when she needed the moral support to build her up as the radiation poisonings broke her down. Around this time, her father did the first fatherly action he had done in years, though it was to force his daughter to join him in his menial crop harvesting duties, despite how painful it was for her brittle body.

This went on for years, all the while her body was deteriorating, becoming more and more painful to complete her work, while her father conversely was pushing more and more of it onto her. Her dreams of learning the sciences were still present, though the end of that tunnel seemed to get further and further away from her as the time passed. By the time that she was fourteen, every day was filled with pain, pain that was agonizing at best and debilitating at worse. Still, her gruff father demanded she worked, they needed the crops to be harvested to survive, though he did not make it better by doing so little work himself, despite his own body being relatively healthy.

Relatively, that is, until Oshime was about sixteen or so. At that time, his health suddenly and quickly deteriorated. He had cancer from the years of latent radiation exposure, though they had no idea of that diagnosis as affording a doctor was far beyond their reach. He died as quickly as he seemed to have gotten sick, as the tumor was allowed to grow unchecked and without impediment. Now alone, Oshime had to tend to their small crop harvests on her own, barely able to scrape enough to survive, let alone sell to make money.

She realized, by the death of her father, that she actually found herself missing her mother moreso now that he was gone. For whatever reason, despite how distant and harsh he was to her, having him around dulled the sense of loss she felt from never really having met her mother. Now that he too had passed, she found herself pining for the love of the mother she never knew. She had no logical recourse to believe that her mother was an amazing and kind woman, but for some reason she just knew in her heart that she was.

She struggled through two more years of harsh living conditions before her body reached the point that she could no longer walk on her painful legs. She was coughing up blood daily, and her eyesight had begun to blur and darken, a sign or the terrible things that were to come for her physical form. Her incontinence, as it had been for years now, was actually the least of her worries. She was wearing dirtied rags anyway, and the rain was the only bathing she was allotted, so there was little recourse. Even with her makeshift leg-crutches, her already low crop yields dwindled even further and she passed away less than six months later, though whether it was from starvation or her body finally completing its plummet into the abyss was unknown.

Casting Away the Carnal Robes:

Oshime started her second life in the Rukongai, like many others. Thankfully for her, her spiritual body was not ravaged by the starvation and disease that her physical one had been, though this luxury had been lost on the woman due to having no memories of her humanity, like almost every other soul. This reasoning had always intrigued Oshime since she first woke up in the Soul Society, why did souls not remember their human lives, was it for any specific reason, or just a side-effect of the scientific processes that worked in turning a kishi body into a reishi one.

As Oshime was already an adult as she entered the Rukongai, she was left to fend for herself in the feudal-esque society. It was tough, but she managed to soldier through it as for some reason, she knew that it was nowhere near as bad as it could have been. Through her determination and hard work, she eventually landed a simple job as an assistant to a shopkeeper, sweeping up and helping stock, relatively simple tasks compared to what it took to live as a vagrant on the outside. Even better, her boss allowed her to sleep on a simple cot in the backroom, so she could no longer even call herself homeless. It was a decent reality, though she wanted more, she wanted to learn like the Shinigami did in their Academy and affluent society.

As the years passed, Oshime found herself growing bored of her simple job. Bored, but never ungrateful. She put her all into it every day, no matter what manner of idiot, brash customer tried to bully her or the shopkeeper around for free goods. The only issues started popping up about three years after her afterlife began, when she found herself wetting the bed, oddly enough. It started sporadically, but eventually became a nightly occurrence. She even had to start sleeping with a plastic sheet over the mattress, so that she would not ruin her boss's cot. Soon, though, it became clear that this would not be good enough and had to spend some of her small wages on protective garments to sleep in. Due to trying to avoid embarrassment, she began purchasing them at a shop on the other side of their district of the Rukongai, though this turned out to be a mistake. Unfortunately for her, the shopkeeper she was purchasing from was the old rival of her current boss, and her own unique visage caused her to be found out. She had to grovel and plead for her job back from her angered boss, as well as explain all the embarrassing reasons that she had to make the purchases in another shop, but he eventually relented and rehired her. Oshime's pay was altered to automatically deduct her for the protection that she needed, so that she would not have to go about purchasing it normally and saving her some embarrassment.

Unfortunately, as the months passed, Oshime found her condition growing worse, as accidents began to happen during the day, as well. It required her to wear the protection during the day, as well, thus increasing the amount of wages taken away from her to pay for them and increasing her humiliation at the whole situation tenfold. Much more oddly, Oshime found herself sucking her thumb here and there, as well as being captivated by silly things more appropriate for young children, more frequently and stronger as time went on. It did not take more than a year after her daytime wettings started, but eventually, the young soul found herself completely bladder incontinent, without any rhyme of reason that she could come up with.

Two years after her bladder incontinence became a complete issue, Oshime met with an event that would shape her afterlife. She was sweeping the shop floor one afternoon when a customer came in, one that had no desire to pay for the goods he wanted. While Oshime did what little she could to try to coax him into leaving, she was terrified and he was nothing but a wretched crook with no care or respect for others. He even shoved her against the wall with enough force to shatter her shoulder blade, though this event had unforeseen consequences, it caused her to release a bit of reiatsu around the area. It was of course nothing significant, or even felt by anyone involved here, but it certainly did attract the attention of a Shinigami passing through the area. She managed to force the man out through her threats, but more importantly, she spoke to Oshime about joining the Shino Academy.

It was a shock to Oshime's system to say the least, her little uncontrollable release had been a sign of her latent Shinigami prowess, an idle dream that she felt was as likely to come true as her dream to be able to fly. Yet, the woman was serious, she offered Oshime the opportunity to join the prestigious Academy to train to become a Shinigami. She took the offer up immediately, barely having the time to thank her boss for all he had done before being whisked away to the Seireitei and her new home for however many years it would take her to graduate from the Academy and become a full-fledged Shinigami.

It was hard work, grueling at times even, especially when she had a condition that hindered her in various ways. She had to miss some classes due to a bout of regressive behavior from time to time, not to mention how her bladder incontinence effected how she interacted with others or during training. However, despite all of this, she managed to work her padded butt off to get through the Academy, despite the lack of friends, in the same amount of time that it took others.

While most other students waffled and had to decide which Division they wanted to join, Oshime chose before she even finished enrolling in the Academy. The Fourth Division called out to her, the division all about the sciences and technology. She at one point considered joining the Third Division due to their medical know-how, hoping to find a cure to her condition, but it just did not feel right, not to mention the lack of medical aptitude on her part. Now that she has finally graduated, she can start at her goal of joining the illustrious science division.
