Clothing and Accessories: Diarmaid isn’t very concerned with his clothing. He tends to prefer loose, comfortable, clothing for hunting usually in the form of cargo trousers and t-shirts. However he does have the sense to know when dressing up is required and it is not uncommon to see the man in more formal clothing. On days off, when hunting isn’t a possibility, he dresses fairly relatively in jeans, t-shirts and jackets.
Generalized Appearance: Diarmaid is a tall, athletically built, young man standing over 6 feet in height with broad shoulders and a slender waist speaking of his warrior heritage and training. The man is rather pale but much of this can be laid at the feet of his Irish blood rather than any sort of indication to the lifestyle of the man. By most standards he would be considered fairly attractive or, at least, striking with bright golden eyes standing in stark contrast to his dark hair and pale skin.

Often looking unkempt due to a casual disregard for tidiness it can not be said he is ungroomed. The man shaves frequently, disliking facial hair, keeps his hair at the same length all year round and enjoys frequent bathing to keep clean especially considering the amount of physical exertion his life leads to. Despite this somewhat messy appearance he definitely tidies up well.
Spiritual Pressure Analysis: Wild and harsh indicating a primal violence within the man’s nature.

Overall Personality: On the surface Dairmaid is a confident, and energetic, young man. Pleasant and friendly to most people he prefers to stick to a tone of informality even amongst strangers. He is quick to engage people in conversation if they show the inclination but rarely pushes his presence upon people who clearly don’t want him around.

He also shows a great deal of casual kindness and a sense of honour. He is more than happy to help most people, even strangers, unless he considers them his enemy. On the point of enemies Diarmaid finds it difficult to watch evil and do nothing about it, even turning on his own people if he considers their actions to be vile.

Beneath the obvious features of his chivalrous and friendly man is a warrior. This side of Diarmaid is proud and bloodthirsty. There is little that the Irishman considers more enjoyable than a good fight which is the very reason he is such a prolific hunter of Hollow. In truth he holds no real ill will towards Hollow or, even, Shinigami despite being fully aware of the part they played in Quincy history. There is also little than Diarmaid respects more than a good warrior and he will often seek out skilled combatants to test his mettle against.

Languages: Speaks almost perfect Japanese however when he gets animated his Northern Irish accent slips causing his speech to sound very weird. Other than that he speaks fluent English, Irish Gaeilge and a touch of Welsh due to his Mother’s influence.

Overarching History

Diarmaid was born in Craigavon Hospital, County Armagh, in Northern Ireland. Born to the wealthy O’Cahan family he was well situated to have an easy lifestyle. Living in the countryside, not too far from Armagh City, the family lived in a large house in the middle of the family orchard.

Growing up as only one of a number of children, Diarmaid's childhood was relatively enjoyable. He would help his family on the orchard which was, really, only kept for tradition and enjoyment as the family certainly didn’t need the money. Indeed after harvesting they would often give away the fruit to the locals living nearby.

The O’Cahan’s were considered very friendly people to the community with the only exception being they didn’t tolerate trespassers and were rather private when it came to family affairs. This was, of course, due to the family being active Quincy and keeping this part of their existence secret from the world. As the largest Quincy Clan in the County they had good relations with other Families of their people across Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales. Aside from their traditions as an ancient Quincy Clan the family was also very religious being followers of the Catholic Church, albeit relatively reserved ones preferring to keep their worship to themselves although they still attended Sunday Service along with most of the community.

Of all his siblings Diarmaid was the youngest to awaken his Spiritual Powers, being able to sense spirits when he was only three years old. By the time he was six he could manifest a small bow and, by the age of eight, he could manifest his own unique Spirit Weapon which in his case was a Spear. Melee weapons were a common trait in the O’Cahan Bloodline and over half of his siblings would conjure weapons ranging from swords to axes. Diarmaid’s oldest brother also manifested a spear which they shared with their father and the two sons would train mostly under their father due to the shared combat style.

When he was eleven Diarmaid was sent to board at a Grammar school which was not unusual and many of his siblings did likewise. Although he behaved himself for the first few years one weekend, which he spent at home, one of his brothers bragged about having been on secret Hollow hunts that their parents didn’t know about. Jealous Diarmaid began to sneak out of the school’s dormitories to hunt his own Hollow and had something of a reputation amongst his fellow students for being a womaniser as the fifteen year old was believed to be sneaking out to visit the local girls Grammar School. Something Diarmaid didn’t bother to correct them on. During these years, away from his family, having the freedom to hunt in secret whenever he wished awoke a hunger in the teenager which was only satisfied by the act of the hunt.

Upon finishing his secondary education Diarmaid would eventually decide to go to University, mostly to put off worrying about getting a job, and studied Computer Science in Dublin’s Trinity College. Being a natural at mathematics and programming he had little trouble with the degree and graduated with ease. During the years he spent at University Diarmaid only increased the rate of his excursions to seek out Hollow.

Upon graduation Diarmaid began working at his mother’s company, a financial firm, as a Data Analyst. Although very good at his job the young man was endlessly bored.

By the age of twenty-four he decided he had enough of the day to day lifestyle his parents expected of him. With the money he’d saved up since working, as well as a significant bank account which had been put together by his parents alongside years of birthday presents from rich relatives, he decided to quit his job and purchase a ticket abroad to “see the world”. His parents, believing their son simply wanted to see what lay beyond the borders of their home island agreed and even gave him some money to do so.

Having learnt Japanese while growing up due to an unhealthy amount of anime watching and jrpgs, along with having made a close friend at College from Japan, Diarmaid decided that would be a good first destination because at least he could speak the language passably well.

With that he jumped on a plane and began his adventures abroad!

Reishi Cross: Diarmaid’s cross’s design is a fairly normal one, hanging from his neck, albeit of celtic design simply made of sterling silver. The original cord has been replaced with a basic black cord which the young man finds far more preferable. Despite the modern cord the cross itself is quite old and is covered in various celtic designs across it’s surface, it has apparently been used as a focus for generations of O’Cahan Quincy over the years.
Reishi Weapon: Diarmaid’s Quincy weapon forms as a spear of blue light, flickering and somewhat unstable looking with blurred edges, the immature Reishi Weapon is still sharper and stronger than ordinary steel. Although the weapon doesn't fire standard Heilig Pfeil the Irish Quincy can easily form these weapons and throw them like javelins, although much slower than the bow equivalent each one causes significant damage upon impact. He can, however, only form one at a time.
