The Story and Threads:
Vance has always been evil, at least to people who aren't his customers.  Though Vance believes in something very specific about the world.  If there aren't villains, there can't be heroes.  While he is a good guy in his day job and he doesn't overtly attack or harm others, this was all an introduction as to what he actually cares about.  Which is, experimentation and knowledge.  Vance can't use conventional skills, so he makes up for it with items that fulfill specific purposes and avoiding combat if possible.  While other Quincy are only spiritual beacons when they go Spirit Weapon form, Vance just feels like a human.

Upon arriving in Japan for a case, Vance met a human psychic, which lead to him comming up with a few interesting theories.  Mostly that everything in stories, might very well be true.  Which meant their ideas and concepts could be made physical if put under the right circumstances.  From ESP to monsters in closets like Vampires and other Penny Dreadfuls, Vance got the impression that he should be looking for these things from Raphael because he was one.  Which made Vance question the idea of what was actually fiction and what wasn't.  If someone really could read minds, couldn't someone just as easily be a Jedi?

Which lead Vance to his second object of study.  A human that seemed to be able to manipulate hollow.  That's what Vance thought it did anyway.  He was not a fan of having to use his abilities in public, and it more or less just led to him seeing a monster eat a monster. Which made Vance think about the idea of rapid evolution and how Spiritual Humans and potentially other trans-dimensional beings gained power.  He thought of the old Mayas, and other civilizations that stated consuming others granted power, and wanted to find out if by making a bunch of powerful people fight, would it make them stronger?

So, Vance ran an Experiment to see if rapid Evolution was possible.  While the results were not conclusive, as, so far as Vance saw no one manifested spontaneous powers.  It did prove a fruitful test and experiment for a few reasons.  It lead Vance to the concept that even monster like hollow can have plans.  On top of it, shinigami had werewolves and beings so strong that advanced hollow did not want to fight them directly.  He also learned that the Quincy these days, were just plain lazy.   The big advance was the werewolf girl and the murder of crows, which he took many readings on due to their odd nature.  They were essentially monsters out of fairy tales and lore, and it lead to the idea that shinigami may be capable of genetic manipulation.  Which Vance has warranted necessary for future study.

Culminating in Vance's first defeat.  Vance is used to be the smartest person in the room he's in.  He's not used to being manipulated and taken for a child.  Nyla managed to this in seconds,  Though unlike most Villains, Vance doesn't have a problem with losing.  In fact, he gave her a card after she figured out half his major secrets and has respect for things like that.  Though he needed to get out just for the annoyance.

Vance is now on a quest for knowledge, clients and control.  He needs more items if he ever plans on being able to stand on the same level as most inter-dimensional beings.  Vance also doesn't have a good way to deal with things like that.

Edited stats to reflect Vance's human-ness and remove skills he cant actually use

Thanks for making this request! We're still working on the procedure, but it's a little more refined this time around.

We begin at five stars and add or remove based on notable additions or glaring omissions.
+0 - Writing - A couple odd typos here and there especially on shorter posts. Definitely wanna be careful to edit but there weren't too many. Definitely stuff you could catch on a second pass.
+0 - Story - Some odd bits of his family in the first thread, I do prefer npcs stay offscreen until necessary or do something for players but this one-off mention is fine if it has the potential to cause an issue. Unless, of course, Vance was just blowing smoke. A little too glib but nothing glaring and I think you have a consistent tale here about Vance making his hypothesis and testing them though I think we could use a little bit more interstitial material here to pull it together and show him outside of the schemes, what is he like away from other people?
+0 - Growth - Not a lot of growth but for a first arc it's a fine bit of establishing.
+1 - Impact - You did a big ole event that brought a ton of people together. Good work here but even in your other threads you work with people and give them stuff to play off of. Solid stuff here. Now one thing about this is that it was very much an abrupt doing of things without much catalyst. I think it was timed perfectly with the site being so early but I want to see a little more effort going forward! Dropping a bomb on the site isn't going to work a second time, try involving more people on the ground floor.

A solid intro arc. I know who Vance is, I get his deal and a nice diversity in the threads plus you've had one of the largest impact threads to date.

Congrats! This is a solid SIX STAR request! Go ahead and link this post to your profile and redeem for

4 Threads x 6 Star Rating = 480 EXP!
