Abandoned Threads
Threads can be Abandoned by Abandonders. If you do not post in a thread for 2 weeks and have not reached out to inform your partner they will be allowed to call it Abandoned and you will become the Abandoner. If a thread has been Abandoned it no longer qualifies for experience in an experience request to the Abandoner. Note this only happens if you A) Do not post for two weeks B) Do not reach out to your partner to let them know when you might post within those two weeks.
If there is contact, the maximum time someone can be forced to wait is 4 weeks after which they are no longer obligated to wait on a thread.
You may also abandon a thread at any time, just let your partner know. A thread may also be mutually abandoned.
If you are in an Abandoned thread and you are not the Abandoner, you may write an ending to the thread. While you may not cause permanent changes to your former thread partner that they have not okayed you are given some leeway to close it out to make it useful if it was key to requests though, if the thread is barely underway or has low importance to your story it is often better to just let the thread end there. Keep in mind, an unfinished thread, ie if it was abandoned and not ended, should not be included in experience requests.
We understand stuff comes up. The world is a wacky place and lives are busy complicated things, there is no shame in not being able to finish a thread you thought you would be able to, but you should be able to reach out and let your partner know. If you cannot, it's also okay, they will be given the chance to finish the thread without you which is the purpose of these rules, to help remove the sense of trapping someone in a thread you cannot finish so that they might finish it themselves and to make sure nobodies plot stalls out because a partner faces a life emergency.
The experience loss of a thread is not meant to be a punishment, but a realistic outcome. If you did not finish the thread it'd be weird to grant experience for it. There is no issue with having a priority shift from pretending to be a ghost wizard on the internet, these rules exist to make sure that people can keep rolling forward without issue.
